Some like them some do not.
But I have found that it is a great tool to get someones attention to a topic as a link and to just make a general annoucement.
We have two versions at http://www.PIWYR.com
A small flash version at the header and a reg version at the footer that shows a lot more of the messages.They are both the same so when you post in one it shows in the other.A lot of other differances between the two so if interested check them out on the site.

No .... Internet Relay Chat
It is a protocol almost as old as the Internet itself. I consider it to be really cool because all the conversation is totally live. If no one is interested thats cool too but I just thought it would be a cool addition.
All this would take is a slight change to the domain setup (to add irc.kymcoforum.com) and the setup and configuration of the IRC server (VERY easy to do).
Consider this the first vote for irc.kymcoforum.com
