Title: aux plug in under seat
Post by: ispud on March 23, 2010, 04:48:38 PM
Do you think I can run a littler 12v compressor off this plug?  The compressor draws 10 to 11 amps.  There is a decal near plug that says for phone recharger only.  I would like to include this compressor in my emergency kit.

I would not.  You could run a new wire from the socket direct to the battery (with an inline fuse) to get full capacity and no risk of frying anything expensive. My guess is that since the light on the dash shows the socket as being used, I would not want to run 10-15 amps thru, parallel or near the dash.  If you had a problem, it could kill your dash and since the only time you'll be using the socket is when you are pumping air (while standing on the side of the road) you know have a live socket in the met-in box is not a risk.

battery is pretty easy to get to - maybe I will look at just alligator clipping it directly to the battery when I need to use it.  Thanks for the reply.

Both of these guys are right. A 10a fuse on your OWN circuit will work. Not on the scoot.'s wiring.
