Does the face plate of a variator affect performance? I'm referring room the toothed drive face. If so what are some options, and has anyone run "performance" drive faces?

I think it was here that, maybe wordslinger, says that the naraku face yielded good results. I'll see if I can find it.
My opinion, an aftermarket one could stay cooler to avoid slipping and belt wear. And I imagine if it's angle is different that it could affect performance.
I'm getting a malossi one from a 49ccscoot forum member that has the built in fins, and he sand blasted it for grip.

I would be surprised it you would achieve any noticeable performance gains with an aftermarket drive face versus the Kymco OEM. A good reason to change the drive face would be in the event that the drive teeth on the face have worn to the level that there is "slop" in it creating excessive vibrations and the subsequent loss of power to the wheels. I think the return on investment opportunity of the purchase would be very low. Sorry to be a buzzkill. Just my opinion.

I was just curious if the diameter and angles were different and yield noticeable improvement in performance. Otherwise I'll spend my $34 elsewhere.
