Does anyone know the recommended procedure to align the shifter mechanism? Or any tricks to help the shifting problem?

Do you mean not being able to get it into park? I've had two UXVs and both have been hard shift into park when stopped. I found if you make a quick,light, tap on the throttle it will work.

Thanks, but that part I have figured out. Just wondering what the alignment sequence is to be sure it is solidly in gear when the shifter says it is. Sometimes my backup lights flicker on and off indicating it may not be totally in gear and sometimes the low light does not come on. Just some things that may suggest a shifter alignment is needed. Trying to get a factory service manual but no luck yet.

I thought I would post on this forum, I did talk to the factory and was connected to a very helpful gent that explained why the shifting is notchy for a lack of a better definition. The shift forks are now spring loaded and designed to maintain gear mesh and these springs need to be overrode to shift. Due to the use of springs NO mechanical failures have developed whereas they did have problems with slipping out of gear in the past. It was recommended a slight tap on the throttle while shifting gears will help and I can say from experience it Does help greatly. Just a very light tap on the gas while shifting makes thing much easier. Was also told that if I have any other problems to feel free to contact the factory directly for solutions. They made it sound good so only time will tell. Seemed to be very nice people. Use the KymcoUSA web site to get the customer support phone number.

I found what airshot and ppd153said is right on the money. I would guess backup lights flickering would/could be an adjustment in the switch. Don't know shifter adjustment procedure.....yet.

While I have not yet adjusted anything, I have noticed my backup lights flickering much less. Not sure if things are just getting broke (worn in) in or what. Ever since I talked to the customer support the backup lights have gotten much better. As a matter of fact... so has the shifter been much easier to move. Either I am just getting used to it or its getting broke in, or the factory can make adjustments on your machine by just thinking about!!
A very light tap on the throttle as the factory recommended does work quite well, I have been doing it without thinking about it. Still trying to get that factory service manual, contacted "cyclepedia" as the factory recommended but still no response.
