hi, we got scooter for my wife about 6 months ago for daily commuting. it had about 1500 miles on it and everything worked well. now in past month she started complaining about it loosing power. it would work fine for 10 or so minutes then it would not accelerate properly or right away. i took test ride and it feels like the acceleration is late or does not have enough power. it has enough oil and gas, not sure what else could cause it. yesterday on her way to work it completely died on her and she couldnt get it to start again so had to leava it on the street. any ideas?

Have you checked spark plug or maybe dirty carb or jets?

Ok correction, it does start but dies off shortly after. Even while accelerating. I have also noticed on left rear side a lot of oily mess. Maybe oil is leeking? I will try to clean carburetor and all the oily mess inside see if it will help.

From what I have seen on the forum oil pumps are notorious for leaking and filling case and exhaust with oil or sometimes dealers turn pump all the way up to help with break in thats what happened with me. If you are at all mechanically inclined you can check and adjust oil pump very easily by taking seat off I can take pics to help you if needed. And do you mean Left side when sitting on it or Left side when looking at scooter from the front?

So i removed and cleaned carb this morning. Cleaned all the oil leaks. It was on the left side when i sit on it. Put it all together and it seems to be working. I might take a look on oil pump. Pace, if you get chance post a pic so i get idea what to look for.

Might need a shim on the carb needle the part with the throttle cable attached. The shim raises the needle gives more gas. I think it may be stalling when the throttle is twisted. I bought the smallest washers I could find put them on a nail and held them against some sandpaper on a grinder that I use to sharpen a lawnmower blade. With the grinder running I held the nail with washers against the sandpaper 80 +- grit. The head of the nail keeps the washers there. Might want to hold the nail with vice grips, keep the fingers away. I used needle nose pliers to twist the plastic cap off the throttle piece once the wire is removed. Watch for flying parts, there is a spring in there. Place one washer on the needle and reinsert with the plastic piece and spring. Might be that once the choke turns off, more gas is needed.

This is oil pump follow tube from oil tank to it make sure when you twist throttle all the way wide open WOT the arrow on brass part is between the marks on the pump. Also if you need more gas running all stock just get another idle jet don't butcher stock carb.
