I'm wearing my FroggTogg pants over my Slider Kevlar jeans....warm down to 20°F. Well, warm enough! :-)
Good for you, gearing up. Wear it every ride!....or walk.

I've got a lot of gear from Cycle Gear.  It's not the best stuff out there but it's usually a lot of bang for the buck.  $300 for all that stuff is a great deal.

I go to one of their brick and mortar stores in Allentown, PA. I've bought a lot of stuff from them including jackets, gloves and helmets. Good deals there.

I always wear helmet glove and jacket don't have any kevlar or armored pants but always jeans. I only had my HJC full face when I got the Like last month had to make due with regular wear till I could buy riding specific gear. I know I got the entry level stuff but its still better than nothing there is some nice stuff at cycle gear and they usually have some of their BILT line marked way down so its a good place for people like me who have to do things on a tight budget.

I never had a problem with any of my Bilt Gear.
Sure the zips and stiching isn't top notch but it doesn't have to be.

I tell this often . two years ago I got T-boned and took a 40 mph slide across the hard. Head to toe in Bilt Gear and got away from it almost unscathed. A little road rash where i didn't bother to zip the pants to the jacket. I can't say anything bad about the stuff.

Enjoy and safe rides.
