..installed a set of Leo Vince 4.7 gr rollers..
..wow...
..The increase in acceleration speed is significant..
..the cvt downshift when going up steep hills is way more pronounced..much better at hill climbing, especially at take-off..
..I still have 50 mph downhill, while my average flat land speed may have increased by 1 or2 mph...
..the Leo Vince's are a bit different than any other roller i've used..
..they have a molded side that is supposed to be pushed by the wall of the flite in the variator...
..supposed to help them roll a bit smoother..
..so far me heap big happy!!

I might have to look into that, do you happen to have any pics of the ones you used? I'm not visualizing what exactly you mean!

Just can't stop toying with these things! Gotta love it. Check out Dr. moto on scooter invasion. He is splicing a Zoomer drive train/ front end on a Rucas frame. I can here the dealer now "What is the year/ make/ model... WHAT? A Yamonda RUMOR??? WHAT? 2001-2006??? No we don't carry parts for that sir!"

...I wish I had another scoot to fall back on...I'd like to to more than what I've done......just to experiment a bit....

I saw that! Looks like a real cool project! I'm getting close on the Vento, just have to order a couple things, and possibly pull the carb and clean it again. I'm hardly getting any adjustment to my mix screw and it won't come out! Is it normal on some carbs for the screw not to come out, or it just really stuck?

I have another NC/50 Basket case if you're interested. The only parts missing are the stator (avg$ 49. ) on ebay, and a case gasket ($27. ) honda dealer. 25-30mph tops though. Pm me if you're interested, You will have to find/ make cables. I used all of them... Bicycle/ MiNi Bike stuff works just fine.

...pics of the Leo Vince rollers...notice the orientation in the variator...

I have had the spring bind before. Sort of gets tighter as you try to remove the screw. They ALL have to come out. If you get scared of breaking the screwdriver slot, maybe a pair of mini vise grips.
-
Slinger- those look nice rollers! I see what you mean about the small lip around the edge. I'm still a fan of the Dr. Pulley sliders though i may give those Leo's a try.
Zombie- I figured it had to come out, it just really binds up! I'm only getting maybe two turns of adjustment out of it. I will try and mess with it a bit more tomorrow. Not sure about getting vise-grips on it. It won't unscrew enough to stick out past the recess!
-
..I've never tried the sliders...though I'm interested in doing so...
..i wanted to try out something lighter than the 5.5s i've been preaching on for so long...
..like the 4.7s way better...

The trick is to find the ideal weight using rollers, then switch to the sliders. The sliders cost are a bit more than even nice rollers! I've been waiting (for money) to get some upgraded final drive gears to figure out which weight I will need. Once I get it dialed in, I will get some sliders to go back in the variator.

..will the Dr Pulley sliders work in the Malossi variator?
-
I haven't had any troubles! :)
-
You even have me pretty well convinced to try them. I'm DIE HARD MALOSSI, but the design of the slider does make sense. Rollers don't really "roll" anyway! Just kinda rattle a little bit.
-
...that fabled ol' Malossi rattle....

I have been running 5.5s ( Dr. Pulley ) in my scoot until recently when I went back to 5.0s ( round ones ), but although the 5.0s take off better the difference in acceleration between them and the 5.5s is too noticable. I will try the Dr. Pulley 4.5s that I have to see if they strike the right balance. In my chinese scoot they kept the RPMs too high, but for some reason I think that they will be closer to optimal than the 5.0s. I had a set of 4.7s once, and they ran great in the chinese scoot I had but the 4.5s revved too high. I think that the set up in the Agility is enough different that it might like the 4.5s better, but I was wondering if anybody else had tried that weight in them ( I know that alot of people in the UK seem to run that weight but it seems that their setup is a little different out of the box than in the US for generic chinese scooters - and I was wondering if the Agility is more like theirs ).
-
...well, it seems that my Agility is somewhat different than some of the others around...
..i ran 5.5 for a long time..and loved them..but these 4.7s do give me much quicker acceleration, and have not reduced my top speed any at all..last week I ran the fastest i have ever ran on the old girl...the rpms are high until i reach about 35 mph, then she drops back into a smooth, lower rpm acceleration up into the 45 mph range...i am more content with my scoot, right now, than I have ever been...

Dude... the 5g rollers i got look like cheap junk. And they were 15 bucks!!!!! >:(
-
...malossi, leo vince..polini...all are proven to be good quality...
..maybe mhr too...
...anything else, i just don't know about....
-
when I order my rollers the seler sented me a wrong set of 4.5 gr instead of 5gr ...and .. I don't really like them ... the engine runs like hell ,high rpms at start and without any signifiant increase in acceleration... top speed 75 with stock variator ,but I don't think the speed is accurate ...I don't know if it is even 65 km\h
-
...well then, that answers my questions about the 4.5s....
..sorry for your troubles, but you just saved me some...thanx....
..4.7 is the lower limit, it seems...
-
...i'm also learning that a 1500 contra spring on a stock engine A50 is probably desirable...
