Running a 70cc bbk malossi
95 jet in stock carb
Stock air box with couple extra little holes
Blue torque spring
Red clutch springs .
7.5 weights but i think 8.5 might be better ?
Running max speed of 55-58mph
Is this right setup . im still waiting on carb and intake . but
I wanna ride till comes .
-
If you're not running lean then it's as right as it needs to be, imo.
Check out the way I modded my air box for ideas to open it up without going full open pod. Just be prepared to upjet even more. http://www.kymcoforum.com/index.php?topic=14121.0

Is that with filter in it or without ?
-
I took the pictures without, but put it back, of course. I'd never run far without!

What about a 3 inch tube with a pod filter . largest jet i have is a 95 gonna try it and cruise around here see what happens seems to idle and start fine . soooo fingers crossed cause it sounds extremely wicked now
-
Ya only thing that runs right is a damn airbox . weird
-
Go with a velocity stack like me 😊 with a helmet on, it's not that loud and it sounds bossasfuk! < that's German 😜

Not big enough jets for open pod filter. You'll seize if you try to run it like that.

I didn't know what a velocity stack was until just now. Google to the rescue. I always assumed that my needle was too rich because of it's sputter after dropping back to half throttle from wide open. Now I wonder if it's due to the mild ribbing in the tubing I used...
I'm gonna have to ask my German technician if he's familiar with that word. I kinda like it. It sounds similar to a word I tend to use lol

Make sure the velocity stack is goodentite < also German.
-
Who sells velocity stack ? And what is stock gear size ?
-
What size jet with stack on ? I have stock carb . i just ported the intake to .
-
I'm still dialing in my carb, but it's running pretty well on a 108 main. It still a little hesitant at 1/2 throttle and accelerating out of a turn but at 1/4 and WOT it runs perfect. I think my idle jet is still a touch low. BTW I made my own velocity stack out of a piece of aircraft exhaust manifold l. You can buy them on ebay though.
-
Ok ill try larger jet with air filter.
Still anyone know what atock gears are ?
Cause there is a 15/44
And 17/55 kit ... I want a wheelie machine im happy with 55mph
-
Other Gears are for top speed. You might get an adjustable clutch, high rpm clutch springs, and make it kick in at a higher rpm to get wheelies. Or really, wheelies can be achieved already, most likely. I just feel like mine is heavy. I've got white springs in a malossi delta. If I got stiffer springs it would rise easier, but I'm driving mine in instances where I already have enough problems keeping the front tire on the ground accelerating from a stop. Makes left turns from a light interesting!

Ya im gonna order the white malossi spring and light cltuch bell cause i have the racing clutch in with stock bell and converter . 2k springs . but this winter im still doing a full race kit . gonna redo bearings , gears whole nine yards . trying to find a cheap sand blaster for my garage .
I also was looking in putting the stage 6 r/t head kit on .
Just gotta 3 mill off head i was reading . and thats the 80cc kit
-
80cc for a 2 stroke?

I think its actually 86cc but not positive. But i think im gonna copy this setup . his bike is a monster wish he spoke english lol
-
All I see from that is the 70cc airsal t6. Unless you know of some after market bore job and porting.
I'd like to do some squish band lowering and porting, myself. Maybe this spring...

Ok i think im close to figuring this thing out lol
Feel like dumbass. But had the hardest torque spring in .
What weights in rollers with a 1000k spring ?
I had the 2k one in . no wonder it just took off smooth and no lift . or am i wrong ?
-
Those springs and rollers generally depends on your riding style, your weight, the terrain you're in, and what kind of power you have. It's all kinda like a balancing act between all the cvt components. Stiffer torque spring , in idea, would benefit from heavier weights to encourage the belt to rise on the front pulley and lower on the rear pulley. And the opposite for a lighter spring, where is you had too heavy of weights it would force the rear to shift down faster due to the weights moving the belt up quicker on the variator. It can take a bit of trial and error. Then you also need to keep in mind that your new torque spring will be more stiff for a while as it settles in. I took mine and stomped on it repeated for a few minutes before install. Kinda took a bit of the stress off of it. I wouldn't suggest that, really. Not sure if it was counterproductive or not.
Right now I run with the malossi variator, 9 gram rollers, malossi delta clutch with white clutch springs, middle setting, yellow NYC spring, 1500, but very used, with the bearing kit to reduce spring friction, which in turn makes the spring seem more stiff since it raises it a quarter inch or so. My setup works great for me in the mountains of NC. Almost no situations of bogging when coming out of corners.

Spent some hrs trying diff setups . so far blue top racing spring 2k and 9gram rollers work the best . idk why just does lol
Filled the holes that i drilled back up on air box and 95 jet seems perfect but i got 2 more jets today if it starts to feel sluggish but so far she rips .
Cant wait to see what after market carb and intake does ?
Will i even notice ?
-
I noticed a little with the bigger carb. Like it rose in rpms quicker. I still have the stock intake, barely opened it up, not a strong enough Dremell tool.

I'd have to agree with the more open your carb is, then the quicker it gains rpm=speed. I've been running my bike with an open velocity stack and it pulls and accelerates nicely. I mounted my old modified air box (which in a strange twist of fate, got me to my current setup as it ruined my stock engine/carb setting and cluster-f***ed from there). The mods made were I cut the cross bar on the inside which forms 2 small squares so that it makes one larger rectangle, and I opened the fake NACA duct on the air box cover into a functional duct. The plastic hose up top is disconnected from the bike and air filter removed. Anyway I mounted this yesterday and adjusted my carb to compensate. I immediately noticed a lack of punch and slower acceleration. Top speed remains the same but took much longer to achieve. Today I swapped back to the stack while them slow fools swing on ma sack!.... yes I really just dropped some beats up in here 8)
-
Nicely executed!
As shown in my thread with pics of my airbox, I opened all the entries drastically including the snorkel. I didn't think about the rectangle thing. I'm going out right now to delete that. Any little bit helps, I suppose.

What's NACA duct? Got a pic?

You might be able to see it.
-
I kinda had the idea that that was what you were talking about. But doesn't that let air through without it passing through the filter?
I just deleted the little rectangle and the rest of the material down to match the contour of the outer cover. Might free up a bit more air. Didn't take it far, had my daughter aboard. I'll probably not be able to notice any difference. Might notice more from painting that cover lol

I have a filter, but not factory. Also, I've known of many people who run cone filters mounted within the stock airbox. I guess the box more or less acts to both suppress noise and allow all weather use without fear of water ingestion.
-
I dont have large enough jet to run the stack on . soon as it rips off . and your right dude rips off . boggs down from lack of fuel . ill try this 105 i just got . but its last one my parts store has on stock . and since im waiting for 20mm intake to come in . might as well wait it out . s h i tt y i know
-
Wrong its a 100 and nope runs boggy . so i orderd from jetsrus.com 6 more jets . rest they had for stock carb another 7 days. To try my veliocty stack 😎
-
I ported and hogged out the stock making old and cut the carb mounting flange off, as the PHBG is flange-less. I used a digital caliper to measure the intake diameter so it would all work together. The carb is coupled with a piece of rubber hose and clamps. No leaks, good angle, stock location and stock placement so the factory air box can be mounted without modifications. Im currently running a 110 main and 48 idle. I might drop the main back to a 108 or order a 107 as the 110 is sucking too much fuel. The butt dynomax can't feel the difference, but as I literally watch the fuel needle dropping at WOT, I think it's safe to say it's rich. My previous combo was an unmarked idle that came in the carb and a 108 main. The 108 seemed fine, but I worry about trashing my motor with a too lean main; especially with the open Vstack. The idle seemed too small as it would sputter/bog a little when exiting a turn then opening to WOT. The 48 idle took care of this issue for me, and I suspect the unmarked idle was a 45 anyway, so seems legit. Anyway just thought I'd share and it may be of help to you. I'm currently working on a FOD screen with integrated filter to keep the engine around for a while. I'll post pics once finished and tested.

:'(Well 20mm intake on the way and thanks for the imput .
55 bucks on mototechusa.
Now another question would you buy a 22mm bolt on carb or
19Mm malossi carb kit .
Both 100 bucks each ?

I'd go with malossi, but that's mainly due to most of my setup being malossi already.
Is that intake an exact bolt up to the case and the carb? That's half the price of the only other intake I've seen for the s9. I'd love to be able to just bolt right up and rock

Yes sir bolt on !

IIRCC the manifold you posted is an OEM Super 9 manifold for the Canadian market. I think they got 18 or 20mm intakes. Maybe even larger. The only aftermarket Intakes I've seen for the S9 are about $90-100 and are 2 piece. I've seen one single piece aftermarket intake but forget where. The long runner of the stock style intake, is in my opinion too long. When I modified mine I had to cut the flange off to fit a rubber coupling as the PHBG is a flanges carburetor. I cut the flange off just behind the air inlet port/bung. I then evened everything up and used a dremmel and digital caliper to port the intake runner. There is a thin section one one side of the runner so be careful there, but one of the sections that needs re shaped is next to the base flange so there is plenty of material that can be removed. If you want, I would port your intake, as long as you pay shipping both ways. I'd personally cancel the $55 part and use that else where.
-
I think I've seen a post somewhere where someone opened up the stock intake to it's fullest, which ended up being 19mm. I would personally take you up on that offer, but I need to keep mine going as a daily rider. Maybe once I wire up a stator for this r50x... On that note, I think I'm going to stop stressing about my girlfriend (the one without wheels😜) , drink a Red Bull, and get down to business!

Ok my friend found the best thing for us .
Can use any Marinelli intake your little scooter heart wants .
Yes im ordering it lol
-
And it is a 20mm intake . a 14mm they modified to 20mm . description tells all .
My intake now is ruffly 16mm maybe 17mm cause i ported im just a regular guy in a garage. I wish i had metal fab tools . i have a dremel but it only can do so much .
-
Here is that bolt on 21mm carb i was checking out . if i feel froggy lol
-
That adapter is neat. But if any of you guys want me to, I'll mod your stock intakes. I've gotten really good over the years. I first started porting vw intakes and knife edging throttle bodies, and then onto heads.
-
Hell yea amish. Ill send you my stock one soon as this other comes in . anyone see the price of a dr pulley hit clutch . holy moly . 300 wow better come with a lap dance for that !
-
rain, where are you seeing gears for sale? "Still anyone know what atock gears are ? Cause there is a 15/44

Ok so i bought a kick ass metal bit from home depot . bored stock intake to 1inch hole !
Should feel my woot now lol
Running 108 jet . with no airbox! Need new pilot jet for slight bog
Run a 38mm airfilter.
Loud and sick lol amish was right woot is way more
Last order im placing this week
Mhr clutch plus bell 170
21Mm carb 100
Polini varatior 80
Polini bearings 60 for all
Arrche carb jet kit 25
Malossi gear kit 100
Got some work cut out for me this winter . but after this im done buying sh** . this thing better do 70mph
-
Great! Wow 1 inch bore, that's 26mm! You'll be able to move huge volumes of air. My concern would be the loss of velocity. I suppose if your running a 24mm carb it would work just fine. I might possibly go to a 22-24mm carb in the future.
-
I used a large step up drill bit
-
How did you do the porting ??? The step bit will only enlarge the inlet and outlet, but does nothing about increasing flow through the runner. That intake needs ported and polished.
-
I used a dremel to polish and port . as deep as i can . ill post pics soon when finshed. But it looks amazing for a noob lol . anyways parts came in today . best store ever ! Www.scooterpartsco.com (http://Www.scooterpartsco.com)
-
Looking buffing good lol

Yes sir bolt on !
How has this worked for you so far?
