Scooters - 125 to 300 => LIKE 200i => Topic started by: underpoweredeasyrider on September 06, 2015, 05:00:45 PM

Hi, I was just idly surfing the interwebs and noticed photos of two tone (black bottom and fill in the blank color top) versions. Anyone have a source for these Kymco top cases with the (imho) better-looking color scheme? My 2013 Like 200i red has an all red top case and would look cleaner with the two tone black and red case. And, no, not a trashed, crashed scooter one from Fleabay...

Related question, how big of an aftermarket top case (liter size) can you put on the back of the Like before you look silly? I just wanted one that fits a full face (modular) helmet and found I can only fit a 3/4 on the Like.

I think the 2-tone top case is on the Euro and Asia version of the Like. Since the case is a two piece anyway, you could always paint whichever half you wish. I think the top case which Stig installed is probably as big as you'd want. He has the Bestem case.

Two tone looks good. The Like is a good looking scooter, period... I think you could paint the bottom of the case and come away with nice looking two color case.
Don't go too big; that just doesn't look right.

I waited many months before installing the Bestem 929 case - I thought it was too big.
But because I commute in the dark 365, I wanted the extra rear lighting of the Bestem case. And I did not want to spend $400 > $750 doing it!
The lighted Givi and Shad cases are crazy expensive.
The Bestem was around $125 with the liner (amazon) , lights installed already in the case, mounting plate and hardware included.
I went from this :

To this as rear running lights:

And with the brakes applied it doubles the LEDs and adds the upper light!

Inside the case - plenty of room for my helmet and rain gear.

I posted a DIY install on the forum.
I love the lights of this case, the space is great, adding it to my LIKE was not too hard - it has been a sturdy and useful addition to my scooter for well over a year. I carry heaviest things under the seat - lighter stuff usually goes up in the case when I'm on the move. But have carried many groceries in the case if only going a couple of miles.
But mainly I purchased it for the added safety of the rear lights.
I've gotten used to its size. But if Bestem had made a smaller lighted case I would have opted for it.
I saved hundreds of $ and feel I've actually got more and better rear lighting than on the expensive Givis.
The Bestem can be mounted with disconnect plug-ins to take the case off if you want to take it into your hotel room when travelling cross country on your LIKE200i. Sure. I cancelled my trip to Peru so mine's permanently attached.
