Title: BLOWN ENGINE

 :'((Just blew the engine on my 2008 500Ri.  I have been riding at 115 to 120 Kph on average and the odd 130 to pass on the autoroute for about a month and a half, every day roughly 2 hours a day..  Since it was close to redline I figured I'd check the oil level.  It was fine last I looked.  2 days later WITHOUT ANY WARNING my bike started to slow down going up a hill.  The heat level was normal, the engine oil light wasn't on but it lost power.  I managed to start it up and do another 2 K before it died on me completely.   The CAA dragged me over 100 kliks to my dealership who tells me that my engine is blown, finished.  it's got 19,000 k on it and could cost me over $2000 to fix or more if I get a replacement engine.  KYMCO is working hand in hand with my dealer but my garantie is over since 2012.(bought a 2008 new model in 2010).  Has anyone else had problems with their engine dieing on them?

Ohh boy! Which oil where u using? A 500 gets in the red line at 130???

Yeah, that is odd. The x500 should get well above 100mph.

This has happened to me as well, I don't know your engines internal damage but mine was crank which had too much play.
I also had numerous cam issues.
Mostly exhaust cam.
The oil pump has been replaced,  so should be considered nb cause in my opinion.
I have moved the shim/washer from outside the variator to just inside and got  a 500 rpm reduction throughout the range. This can cause different vibrations but not damaging to anything, as I rode 2000km like that.
I plan to do that again  soon.

Your belt will not be perfectly aligned, and you will shred the belt. Your lucky it has not done so as of yet. Believe me, keep it stock, and don't mess with how it is put together.  :-*

I have 60,000 miles on my 2007 now. No issues, and even has stock clutch etc? I use mobile one synthetic 15/50. I think some people have used 5/30 or so, and I think this is to lite?

Sissy Mary, that mileage is absolutely amazing! And original clutch. Wow, stunned, at a loss for words.
Mine is at 37000km.
I was using 5w30 at one stage, but I also think it is too thin. So I changed it
now that I have the Motobatt battery, as it can crank through the thicker oil.
