what kind of helmet lid you usually wear? any good recommendation... I used to wear HJC & masei
-
I wear a yellow fullfaced Vega. Not crazy about the sun visor as it has sharp edges and will probably take your nose off in an accident.
-
I have a Spirit flip top silver. Flip-up being key. I put yellow reflective tape on it front an back.
I would like a better lid, so when finances improve it will be on the shopping list.

I have a Nolan N104 in the brightest orange you have ever seen. Not a bad helmet but the flip down sun visor is starting to stick and it pinches my right ear a bit. I will eventually buy a Shoei. They are kinda like puting a BarcaLounger on your head. Most comfortable helmet I have ever had on.

After my crash I just ordered a new GMax GM54S Modular Street Helmet. It has a rear LED light with three settings.

My former helmet was a full face modular helmet, a GMax GM44 that had very little damage to it after my accident, but I wanted something that would give me more visibility.
I'm a strong advocate of full face helmets. There was a German study that showed that the majority of impacts to the head from a crash were to the jaw and face. I kind of like my face the way it is. It's not the best, but better than being bashed by the road.

I was using an old 3/4 and goggles until my spill a couple of weeks ago. Just got a full-face (x4). Sadly it won't fit in the underseat compartment, but I came within inches of loosing a chin, rather not do that again.

Ad, glad to hear you're okay.
I think (nearly) all Kymco scooters have helmet security pegs at the driver's end of the seat for locking your helmet.
You can see them in this pictures towards the seat hinge.

Modular at the very least. I have fixed a couple of jaws busted up in accidents with half and 3/4 open face helmets. We tend to lead with our chin when we have impact. See the % in the Hurt report stats.
Full face is stronger.

Thanks. Used it tonight. That did the trick. I'll probably get a top case to fit my 2x noggin just so the helmet doesn't get rained on. Seems to be raining all month long here.

I wear a 3/4 HiVis Kabuto .
If you can wear a full face without it creating a safety issue its the way to go. Then modular although jury still out on those.
Or wear nothing if that's what you like. Just as an FYI.

Good Article AMAC. I never understood the anti-helmet argument. I tend to think of this story.

Hey he went out with his boots on.
I'm very pragmatic about the whole helmet thing. I'd be a hypocrite to scream that it should be law after spending 30 years "on the dark side". Lol.
Until 15 years ago it was all black on black with a bunch of writing on the back .......
Now I look like a bumble bee.
To each his own.

Helmet whats that.around here they are stuped and dont wear one. Mine is a full face.
-
I wear a Shoei Neotec Modular helmet for last 3 years
-
Right now I have a G-Max GM67 3/4 helmet, but I want to move up to a modular (GM54) for all the same reasons stated by Stig, mainly that I have to get the helmet over my glasses and I just can't make it work in a full face helmet. I have tried, but the modular design or 3/4 is the only way to make the helmet work with my specs.

If you've got a .10 cent head wear a .10 cent helmet I see a lot of worthless heads out there!
-
I've never understood the popularity of the bucket head helmet. I can see it as the most minimal helmet one can wear if one legally has to, but it's as much a helmet as a nipple clamp is a bullet proof vest.

I am using a cheap 3/4 open face DOT.
Over the years I have had expensive ones to low priced ones.
I know that a full face will give better protection but, in 90 degree weather, I cannot stand the heat.
-
I just open the visor and the vents. I know what you mean, though. On hot days it feels like I'm wearing a ski boot on my head, but the alternative
can be worse. I actually find more discomfort wearing my armored jacket on hot days.
