Ok, got my scoot back after the crank job.
So cool!
I am keeping things calm and only cruising at 80-100km(50-60mph)
for the next 1000 kms.
One of the problems that manifested recently before the crank job, and one of the reasons scoot went in for repairs, is a slight hesitation when starting-sometimes.
Maybe 50% of the time.
Easy start-instantantly on/purring nicely.
Then, next time, hesitation, like battery flat, struggling to turn over engine, and it starts after this strange hesitation, and idles perfectly.
This hesitation happens at cold or warm starts.
The shop has replaced, starter, starter relay and solenoid.
I just fitted a top of the range Motobatt with 240cca (at workshop request ) , so it can't be the battery.
I haven't had enough cold morning starts to verify it that issue is sorted.
Yesterday was 3 pushes on the start button, which my understanding is the normal behaviour for this model scoot.
What can I check to find a solution to this?

Perhaps the auto choke is sticking partially open. That would flood the bike, and give that lumpy sort of start.

My 2007 carb model starts almost before the engine spins over one full turn. Always has? Run some gum out or sea foam through it and see if that works? :-*

To be clear: this is a fuel injection model.
I had the auto choke issue on my previous scoot grand dink 250. (grand vista)
Unfortunately no sea foam in South Africa.
Importing at nearly 13:1 roe, is very painful!
The hesitation today, happened only 3 times on 15 starts.
The morning first start issue really seems to be sorted, as each morning, within 1-3 turns of the key it is idling nicely.
This is a 2 year problem finally gone!
