Going to look at people 250, 2009, new.
Asking $3000
What price should it sell for?
Might make an offer.
Need price advice.

Private sale or dealer? I checked KBB for my area and the higher Dealer retail price was $2,100. Trade-in value was $1,400. Kymcos are a tough sell by me because hardly anyone is familiar with the brand name around here. I bought my 2006 P250 for a $1K, but it had about 5K miles on it and needed tires, etc. I paid $1,500 for my minty 2009 GV with less than a hundred miles. If it's sat this long, I'd start at $2K and go from there.

you can buy a 2012 GT300i for $3,200 so a S 250 should be much less...

It's going to need all fluids changed in my opinion from day 1. Tires and belt are questionable. I wouldn't pay more than $2500 out the door. So your probably paying $2200 for the scoot. Nice scoot at that to, make sure it fits your mountain frame. A lot of feed back on the seat being too up front for tall folks and your knees crowding the steering column plastics.

Budz isn't that scoot in Minnesota? There's shipping costs and dealer fees added to that $3200. How much is that scoot again?

I think this criticism applies to the Grand Vista, not the P250. I've never heard of anyone having a seating problem with the People 250, including myself.

I don't like the fact that the seat is in two heights sections on my Kymco People 250, with the back section higher than the front. Should be even all the way across so you can scoot your butt all the way back if you're tall like me.

The seating position is upright and comfortable. What? Did you expect I would have a picture of me? Let's see... 5 foot 9 inch 220 pound old man or.... You should be thanking me. The stock seat is comfortable and there is adequate leg room. If you are of the long-legged persuasion, you may wish for more forward leg room. The stock factory windscreen works just fine for me. Again, taller riders may wish for an inch or two more height to the screen.
Just 2 of many reviews if you research it. Not saying it's a definite issue, everyone has a different riding style and I do not like being scrunched up with my knees near the steering column. The seat height in 2 different sections not allowing you to sit farther back on the seat would be an issue for me.

Looking at cycletrader, $2500 OTD for "new" 2009 is reasonable. $3000 seems way high.

It's a nice bike, my opinion better build quality than the new 300's. The seat if your over about 5"10 is not very good, the second hump is RIGHT where you will want to sit. Great bike, everyone is on the right track though, $3000 is a bit high, but with the warranty that makes it close to worth it. Offer $2500 and thats a good deal.

In these parts 2000.00 to 2500.00 depending.
That was a great scoot. Big wheels and good power. I've know guys to realy rack up some miles on them.

Great bike, everyone is on the right track though, $3000 is a bit high, but with the warranty that makes it close to worth it. Offer $2500 and thats a good deal.
Betting: What? So did Taiwanese manufacturing go down hill since the People S250? I don't think so IMHO. If anything, Kymco gotten better with their newer FI models. That's a silly quote if you ask me.

On this side of the world, the 2010s new, are going for just under 3k plus ridiculous add on fees. In the 49 states that do not have restrictions on out of state bikes, the prices are much lower. I still like the looks of the 250s better than any other people. The only thing that has scared me away has been the talk of front end shaking and seating position.

I take everything into account with this statement, I work on multiple bikes a day and have seen nearly everything imported into the USA. The new Taiwan Kymcos are great, superb machines, don't get me wrong there. The quality of the entire build, including ease of maint., plastic quality, amenities, and overall "feel" is not as good (IMHO) on the new 300's compared to the People 250 and S250. The GT300 has ZERO storage under the seat (big fail on a maxi scoot). The older 250's are also easier to work on. Again this is all my opinion, and I hold firm with that one.

I always wanted to get one... if i changed my like id get all day long a ppl 250. In argentina there are so few most with 9 to 5yrs old 20k on clocks and asking prices are insane.
Are you letting a scooter go? Or just an adittionto the family?

Thanks for those quick replies - I took that info with me to look at the scooter after work today.
Crazy clean scoot - they bought it from a repo co. with 4 miles on the odometer a few days ago. Has about 7 miles, now.
They replaced the main 30amp fuse and battery.....cleaned it and it seems to run great.
Is titled as a 2009, sold first time by local moto dealer in 2012 - repo'd for lack of payments - and purchased by this used car dealer.
Tires look fine for a 6 yr old new scooter.
Has a 4" scar on lower front panel and 2" crack on same panel near top corner. No scrapes from a fall or crash.
It is a PEOPLE S 250. Red and black.
Embarrassed the salesman when I asked him to start it......cranking & cranking, cranking - no start. Yep, they've been shutting it down with the kill switch. I pointed to it - he flicked it on _ fired right up.
I sat it and that hump did not seem to be an issue, even at 6'3". Perhaps my riding a LIKE200i with a modified seat for 8000+ miles has me used to keeping my knees and grips away from ea. other.
My impression : I climbed off my LIKE and sat this People S - it is a much bigger scooter. A lot of scoot for the $....NO prep fees.
My concerns - (1) he has had it for only 3 or 4 days - so is not terribly motivated to move much off of the $2995.00 price.
I don't blame him for that - it IS a pretty and brand new looking, RED, big framed, big wheeled, scooter! Less than 10 miles, crazy!
(2) Sat with fuel in it for at least 3 yrs, maybe 6 yrs. Oils have been in there for 6 yrs.
(3) Carbed, not fuel injected.(see above - not wanting to fool one bit with carb/running issues at this point in my life)
(4) No warranty - since it was titled & sold to 1st customer 3 yrs ago.
My decision: I love the idea of a big wheeled scooter - but with 2 scoots, I am not desperate for a ride - so will talk to him again in a few weeks.....but would not be surprised if it sells at his asking price.
(If it had been at my dealer's 2 yrs ago for this price , I would have purchased it, not my LIKE200i - but the dealer would have asked a a couple $K more)(If it were a yellow SYM 170 for that price, or a white SYM CityCom 300 for a few hundred more - whole different bucket of monkies!!
Anyone REAL interested - let me know - I'll help you if I can.

He will come off that price as you can buy from a dealer "new" at that price with full warranty.

Get what you want. New-old for a good price is not a consideration if you prefer FI and this has a carb. Assuming the People models share the same design philosophy, that 2.4 gallon tank is a huge liability, in my opinion, for any touring. Other than that there is a lot going for 200 + cc designs.

Karl, I'd never get to the end of that tank of gas....., not in the same ride....unless I'm driving it home from an out of state purchase!
Toying, smally, with not tossing $2000+ on another scooter (big wheeler like I've always wanted) but taking that cash and my Forza and swapping it for a much bigger scoot to get my wife involved in my riding hobby. A scooter or a 500 > 600 bike with nice seats....low seat for the passenger rather than hanging up there two heads above the driver! (that looks so unstable, and so unpleasant for the passenger).
Keep the LIKE200i for my all-weather work commutes. Bigger ride for the weekends with my wife or teen daughter. My son rides with me now - but his first baby is due any minute - so his riding may be limited by the new Mother. :)
I don't feel particularly stupid for looking, now, for a 2-person ride.....it took me a year with the Forza to see that I'm very much OK with a bigger scooter - going further afield, 200% better ride quality than the LIKE, safer at speed, etc., etc.
Motorcycles are rather less $$ than same size scooter rides, so will be looking in that direction, too - but can a less-than-$10,000 bike be as comfy for two (with a rear case) as a Majesty or Burgman, or a SilverWing ( a mint looking 750 mile SW at local dealer for $7999) ?

I thought I might knock the price down since the front panel was cracked.....shoot the panel is only $50!
A lot of Kymco parts are very reasonable!
