Title: BV350 Maint. Schedule !
Post by: Stig / Major Tom on June 01, 2015, 10:12:02 PM
With some surprises, to me.
Valves at 40,000 Km ! (shims used)
I like that they post the labor times at the bottom of the chart. I was surprised to find out that my Kymco dealer did not have such a chart (hence - their $372 charge for the "hours" needed to "get down through all that plastic" to adjust the valves. See, if Kymco had given them a chart that listed 45 mins labor, in & out,  to do the valves on a LIKE200i they wouldn't have looked so incompetent as "scooter mechanics". Obviously, in spite of the fact that they had "sold many" LIKE200i scooters, they had never serviced one.)

Might also explain why I can't find a video of a valve job on a BV350, although scribd.com has the main. schedule on line http://www.scribd.com/doc/129629543/Piaggio-BV-350-EN#scribd (http://www.scribd.com/doc/129629543/Piaggio-BV-350-EN#scribd)
With nice color pictures!
(when I can't adjust my valves I like to watch others doing so)(I just did them - must now wait awhile)
BTW - the boys at the print shop got the Km's & miles, backwards - the miles are in the brackets.

There is a guy in my neighborhood with a Honda Elite (110 I think). He has 75,000 miles on it. He told me he never checked the valves (not once). Belts, tires, Plugs, etc. No big issues whatsoever. I hope the Like 200 turns out to be like the Elite! I've seen his scooter, it still looks good :)

I would not wait 75,000 to adjust them on the Like LOL

Stig, the numbers for the miles and kilometers are transposed, or another way of saying that is that the heading at the top for miles and kilometers is backwards. Correct is that 10,000 km is about 6,200 miles.

There isn't much worry of that. I have the "Change the ride" sickness. In the 47 years I have been riding two wheels I have owned well over forty different machines. I see it, I have to have it... I need something else.
But they all make me smile :) :) :)
