Title: Got a new/used People 50!
Post by: emanuel_v19 on June 01, 2015, 07:52:10 PM
Hello all,

just got a 2001 people 50 and its pretty fun to ride. However, i noticed that it started to "slip?" gears when it would shift. This happened after about 20min of riding it. It wouldnt do it at first. Maybe cause it wasnt warm? Anyone have an idea what might be wrong? I will open the cvt this week and check the variator, belt and clutch. I hope thats the culprit.

Also, when i release the throttle, it begans to make a hissing sound.  Only when im going WOT and then release. It wont do it under 30mph though. Maybe the exhaust? it is a bit rusty but it doesnt show any sign of holes.

One more thing, the guy gave me an extra tire but im kinda confused on the size. Its a pirelli tire with the sizing of 21/2-16. Basically identical to this one

http://www.en.easyparts.nl/Tyre-PIRELLI-MT75-21-2-16-TT-42J-(reinforced)_(2.50-16)-p7352034.html (http://www.en.easyparts.nl/Tyre-PIRELLI-MT75-21-2-16-TT-42J-(reinforced)_(2.50-16)-p7352034.html)

Will it fit the scooter? i thought we had 100/80/16?? or 80/80/16? Please help!!!

Thank you all

Nice score!!! That tire is for Tube type only, and won't work unless you put a tube in (stupid idea).

So that being said I can't find a matching pair of front/rear tires. Could I use rear tires for both the rear and the front?

Hi Emanuel!
I think it depends on the tire. Some are made specifically for the front or rear wheel.

The sizing is another thing.
My People S 2008 uses 100/80 as front tire and 110/70 for the rear. Both are 16". These are the sizes that stock tires had and now I ride on a different set from different manufacturers but I went for the same size. Probably you can fit a little bit different sizing, but then it's not known for sure if it will fit the bike well.

By the way, you don't have to have a matching pair of tires. I have different tire for the front and different for the rear and it works perfectly.

I see. I ordered the 90/60/16 front michelin city tire. Hopefully that fits!

It should fit, I believe that its profile will be a bit lower and tire will be narrower than the stock size 100/80.
I too have a Michelin tire for the front, it's City Grip 100/80/16 and I love it!
Let us know when you put it on!

Yea I think it should fit. The 90/80/16 is for the front actually and not the back 👍
