Title: agility super 8 engine swap
Post by: greyhound on May 28, 2015, 02:34:44 AM
New member here, sorry if this has been asked before. I have a 2009 super 8 with a bad engine and found a good used engine from an Agility 2011 both 4 cycle. Will the Agility engine fit the Super 8? Concerned about the wheel and tire size, Super 8 is 14" tire and Agility is 12".

Without looking into it, yes it *should* fit. If it was mine, I'd rebuild the s8 engine instead tho.

Thanks for the input. Is the super 8 a stronger engine? I bought this scoot a couple yrs ago with only a few miles on it and the engine was in a basket in pieces. Seems the owner was going to do all sorts of mods to it and then lost interest I guess. It will run now, but just barely. The crank is bad where the flywheel fits on the keyed shaft, replaced the flywheel but its still out of time because of the crankshaft. I guess a new crank would do it if nothing else is going on in there.

The engines are about the same quality, but the agility is 12" wheel (shorter engine case) and the S8 has the 14" wheels. So to use the Agility engine would through off the geometry of the scoot a bit. If you have the S8 engine, rebuild it with a 180cc kit and large valve head and youll have a 80MPH super 8.

Thanks for that info "bettin",that short case and long case deal is exactly what I was looking for.  Know of a good place to buy all the parts, or is a dealer about the only option?

Dealer is good, if you have a nice local dealer support them. I actually work at a dealer in Portland, and wrench full time in the shop. We can get you any parts you might need if you don't have a good local dealer.
