Post by: Stig / Major Tom on May 22, 2015, 06:24:36 PM
Off to my scooterin' coffee village this glorious morning.....(http://i57.tinypic.com/2v8qrm1.jpg)

And look what my Honda scooter (he has a nice old red Honda Reflex SI) buddy brought to show me!

The bike is a 1951 BMW 500 (he also has a mint '51 600) with a proper period German sidecar.
He explained what an adventure it is to ride one of these. What you do to get the car back on the road while going up a freeway on ramp at speed, etc., etc. Sounded scary as h__l ! He offered that he did do a fair bit of unintentional off-roading  until he came to grips with its road behavior. The car is sprung with its own suspension and the bike is specially geared for the car.
He is quite a character.
Good times,
Stig

Love the pics Stig! I had a 1959 R69S myself many years ago while I was in the Navy. It is still my fave bike of all I owned. I had to sell it when our VW bus camper blew it's engine (sigh) and I needed the money to cover the rebuild.  :'(
