OK yesterday the wife and I took our Team Oregon endorsement driving course, 4 hours of idling and limited driving. My temp gauge would get high (3/4ths) then drop to 1/3rd on the drive home dropped again. I would hit a bump the needle would bounce to the red then drop like a loose needle to zero temp.... another bump bounce up to high then drop to 1/3rd then to zero....
Really confused as to what it could be and what I need to do to resolve this issue.....
During the course at 3/4ths temp (at the highest temp reading) I reached down and felt through to the radiator and it was barely warm....
please help :)

Hmmm that's strange. Sounds like maybe the physical needle is broken? Have you checked the coolant in the radiator? You have to take off the front panel but its easy. The people 250 normally runs cool, my friend just finished completely restoring one and even in traffic he's at about half then the fan comes on. Does your fan kick on, your should hear it. Where about are you guys in Oregon?

This is the "Skull" 250 you have worked on/with prior :)
The fan did kick on twice during our wait to ride through the obstacle cones...
we are located in Oregon City ...

Nice man glad to see you on here. It sounds like it needs a new gauge cluster. You got all the air burped out for sure? You can open the gauge up and feel the needle, if it just flops maybe glue it on the shaft? Some bikes run differently, maybe that one runs at about 3/4 as long as it wasn't in the red I'd say your golden.

Are there any good videos or manuals to help me learn to open this baby up?
How much you guess for a gauge cluster?
ya its more like the gauge than anything else..... raise then just dropped like it was hot :)

I'll check Monday, as for taking it apart it's kind of just start taking apart gently lol. Not many write ups on how to get it open.

Also to the shopping list.. add a set up brake pads.... I need you to take "her" for a spin, that baffle or muffler sound reminds me of when my P150 went bad, but will let you check that out and the temp gauge is laughable!
If it rises up too high just accelerate and it drops to zero temp... then bounces 3/4s to off .... hit a bump back to high.....accelerate and it drops.
doesn't sound like air in the system does it? (radiator is not even warm to the touch)
thought you guys were closed Mondays?
:)

Yeah that sounds a lot more like the gauge is just broken, we're closed but it's busy enough that I'm in there working in bikes getting hours.

Hey man, Looks like the new clusters are about $200. I can order it on my next Kymco Order tomorrow. If it was mine I'd try gluing the needle first, just to make sure its not just loose on the shaft.

Good call !! how much are new brake pads?
you carry those in stock?
thanks again

Brake pads are about $30, front or rear ?
-
All the way round.... front and back !!

There are a couple different pads they used for the rear, if you get the pads out I'd know for sure
