Title: Oil Sensor
Post by: demeter on May 13, 2015, 04:18:50 AM
Does the oil sensor only monitor oil levels in the oil tank? Does it monitor any other part of the oil system? The reason I ask is because lately my oil light has been coming on for a second or two when I go WOT from a dead stop. Oil tank is half full. I'm pretty sure my oil sensor is bad but just want to make sure this isn't a sign of something else like the oil pump dying or oil filter clogging.

doesn,t a oil sensor read oil pressure ,  so if your oil level is OK. check your oil pump out put, may be a dealer thing,.  hope your still on warranty,.  it could be when you take off the oil sloshes back and the oil pump is succing air, giving you flashing light

When the oil level starts to get low, it'll come on like that when the oil sloshes back and forward. Top your oil off. Also dead battery will cause strange oil light.

Thanks! Just wanted to be safe. I'll ignore the light for now and make sure the oil tank stays half full. I'm avoiding filling the tank until I install a new sensor. Right now when it's full the sensor wics oil up thru the sensor cables and pours it out at the connector. Makes a total mess. You can literally squeeze the cables and watch oil gush out. But at about half full it stays nice and dry.  :)

So by part number I have the ones in stock for the People 50 and many more 2t kymco, they list the Like and Super 8 2t as sharing the oil meter, but not with the people 50 and the other Kymcos. It could be the same, and Kymco just changes the suffix for no reason. If you have it out, you can measure the diameter of the rubber stopper, and the total length of the sensor and I'll compare with what I have in stock. They are $40 plus about $5 for USPS.
