Title: 2010 xciting 250i "eating" oil
Post by: leo.portner on May 11, 2015, 05:29:06 PM
Losing 100-200 grams/ml of engine oil every month,
No visual leaks every thing is dry and clean.
Any thoughts where the oil is going?

No spots on the floor or gooey spots on the bike then it is either past the rings or valve guides and out the tail pipe/muffler.

Yeah, that amount probably would not show smoke.

How many miles or km do you put in that month?

600-800 km

That's fairly normal oil usage. These motors aren't like car engines, the tolerances are much much larger and can let oil past the rings etc. No matter what the manual says, the 250 motor likes the oil changed about every 1000km I've found with mine. On my next rebuild later this month, I'm thinking about just using fairly cheap oil instead of Motul, frikin' $16 every 1000km gets expensive LOL.
