Title: Little door on ignition
Post by: bucray on May 06, 2015, 08:10:26 PM
Just spent 45 minutes trying to get the little door that blocks key slot.  Luckily I was next to a Lowes and got big knife and fixed it good.  I've worried about this since I got my GTI300.  What a poor design.

I would say its a good anti thief design if it took you 45 minutes in a Lowes parking lot to disarm it. Lucky someone didn't call the cops
Why didn't you use the key to open the door?

If you don't have the key with the right side on top, it doesn't work . Did you try turning it over ?

Our GTi300 and DT300i keys have a "growth" on the side of the key plastic handle that open the little "shutter" or door on the key slot. No brainer. Also in the owners manual.

Are you saying you antitheft shutter is broken or the plastic on your key is damaged?
