Title: Riding without an exhaust
Post by: halfaperson37 on April 20, 2015, 11:28:34 AM
Recently my exhaust fell off but because I had to get to work and had no other way of getting there I had to continue to use it until my new exhaust came. Anyway, a couple of days before exhaust came I started having problems. It started to pull up when I was riding it, slowing down then speeding up erratically. Now the exhaust is on but the problem has got worse. When I try to start it won't start unless I shake it violently side to side and then it kicks in, but even then not convincingly, and it also seems to help when I tap the side of it with my foot,  around where the timing hole cap and fan cover is, that seems to help with it starting to. Any ideas what the problem might be? Please help!

I think you may have melted something in the air shroud and maybe the fan by running without the exhaust. You may have also warped the exhaust valve for the same reason. I am not sure what could be going on with "tapping with your foot" making it start. You may have melted some wiring insulation that could be shorting to cause an electrical problem that is temporarily solve with the swift kick. You are in the zone that needs some careful inspection and description to get any help from anyone.

Without a doubt you need to have it serviced and inspected asap.

Running with zero exhaust is really pretty bad on the motor. Runs it very lean. If your lucky your issues might be just a tight valve, might have actually caused damage to the cylinder.

Once started now, how does it run? Still running issues , or is it just hard to start?
Plug wire shaken loose when pipe off?
