Title: Help
Post by: jerzybuster on April 15, 2015, 02:27:48 AM
Somebody just gave me a 2012 Downtown 300. I never owned a scooter before and need some help. I tried to start the thing, the lights and horn look and sound strong but i try to start the engine and i get nothing, not even a click. Is there a fuel cut off or a fuse i might be missing?

Could be a bad starter relay. Maybe pull the battery out and have out checked, the horn and lights aren't a 100% indicator of a good battery. Next would be the starter button itself. Maybe since you got it for free you could spend a little and have a shop just go through it.

sounds like you are trying to start it with the side stand down, or the kill switch off,

Also you have to squeeze one of the brake levers. It won't start unless the brake light is lit

You guys are awesome, I guess it was the kickstand being down that was my problem. Now i can take to to a shop and have them give it a tune-up and check it over. Thank you so much for your help, I'm sure i will be back here with some more questions.

You found the right place, Jerzy! The people here know the answers as most of the dealers don't. Have a nice ride and watch out for old guys in Buicks! Heck, watch them all on four wheels....
