Title: SCORE!
Post by: Triesandluth on March 25, 2015, 08:44:36 AM
Got up with an extreme s9 tuner here in asheville. He was gracious enough to hook me up with some lightly used performance parts, spare parts, and a wealth of knowledge. Scored a technigas pipe, 19mm arreche carb, spare stock carb, and a spare water pump! On the cheap! Just bolted up the pipe and carb last night. Can't wait until normal human awake times to see the difference. And plug chop. It only has a 95 in it. He said that the carb was tuned well to a similar piston kit, running the same pipe with stock air box. I trust him, but not my bike [emoji12] Just thought I'd share. It's gonna be great to see what his can do after getting his throttle cable. It's case and cylinder are ported, 24mm carb, overrange cvt, probably other things. Look at me, like a little school girl now that I've found a local scooter enthusiast!

95 was too big. Gonna have to order some jets. Went back to the stock carb. Still runs ridiculously awesome with the pipe. Somehow lost my mounting bolts on the test ride [emoji33] emergency stop at ace hardware. Thought I torqued them down...

Great stuff! I grew up in Asheville, and used to terrorize nearly every road in the region (circa 04-06) with my 2t Yamaha Vino. Great are to scoot. Town Mnt road is great as is the run down to Batcave/Chimney Rock. Maybe the next time I visit the area, I'll bring my S9 along.

I can't agree more! Once I get away from the traffic and off the main roads it's a great riding place. Well, if you can get through some of the treacherous mountain hills.

It can in the right wind and pitch of the road. I try to avoid it, I'm not a fan of running over ten grand rpms ha ha. At least not with the street kit.

True, if I was intending to ride in areas where it's necessary. I'm never on a road that goes above 45 when on the scoot. And I really enjoy blowing past other little scooters like a jerk sometimes. Hell, I was doing that before the mods.

you are right, with just the boss drive change you can get 48mps on gps

I had hit 55 GPS with the stock cylinder and pipe, but I wasn't paying attention, it was probably at some wicked downhill. I was cruising 43 on the regular. Now I still cruise that but on slight hills with no loss and down hill gets ridiculously fast.

Nice hit on the parts . I'm waiting on my new triops exhaust and heavy air flow breather to get here so I can start the reincarnation of my 9

Obark, I was riding with, and out running, my buddy on his Super Eight 150. Sent my tach well beyond 10k again. I'm quite surprised at the performance that this cheap kit is giving. I'm honestly giving it hell to have an excuse to buy a better kit. But it's not giving up the ghost...

I'm definitely not disappointed by it's ability in these mountainous areas, especially with the kit and pipe. I've never been around the ac model, and I've heard the LC has better performance. That may not be true though. I've ridden a Super eight 150 and still enjoyed my s9 more. The extra torque was nice though. I'd say if the price is right and you have the time, do it. There's not a ton around. And I enjoy the engine variety I have going on.

I have LC, but think AC should run just as well for street. LC better for racing if you are trying for maximum horsepower. I have run air cooled and liquid cooled 2 strokes for many years, and like the air cooled better because simpler to deal with. My moto "simple is better". If nice S9 AC was available, near to me, I would buy it right now.
My son-n-law has S8 150 and I like to ride my S9 and People 50 2T better. S8 150 is faster and has more torque, but I just like the way 2T's run, more fun IMO and fast enough for where I want to ride. From time to time he will leave me on the 45 and 50 mph roads, so that's a bummer, but on the slower roads I can always stay with him. I haven't tested my S9 with it's latest tune against the S8 150 yet, but suspect I may now have similar top speed. An S9 with BBK may be faster than S8 150.

I didn't have a gps running but had a wicked tail wind. I actually ran the speedo as much as it would go on a mild up hill. It still amazes other drivers.

If i remember correctly you did the pipes, boss drive and rollers

Pipe, boss drive, variator, clutch and torque springs, larger jets, minimal airbox snorkel mod, cast iron 70cc kit, and the most important-proper tire pressure!

My girlfriend says that the back of my scooter is already that hot because she's on the back of it. I agree.
