My kymco scooter was not put in storage correctly. Was left with gas in the tank for well over six months without being ridden. Horrible I know. I don't know if it will start because my brother siphoned the gas out. I can't remember if he told me when he tried to start it it would not start if it took long TO start. Either way he said the problem was minor and that I would have to pay 80-100 dollars to unclog the carburetor. My question is:
Can i unclog the carburetor myself at home? What tools do I need? Where is it located? Can something go wrong? I am a first timer- haven't repaired a scooter before but am not scared to. Any and all help related to this topic will be useful. BTW- do I need to change the oil? The scooter only has 20 miles and has not been driven in 10 months but does the oil need to be replaced?

I just got my scooter out from storage and had the same issue. It took forever to start and wouldn't idle when it did start. Killed the battery trying to start it so much... I put in a new battery, fresh gas and added some seafoam to the gas tank. I had to baby it for an hour but after a few small rides and stalls she's 100% back to normal.

Acknowledging that your model is an Agility 125, you could use wkreps excellent Super 8 videos (https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Super8+150+-+Removing+and+Cleaning+the+Carburetor) as guidelines.
One trick that sometimes works is an in-place carb flush. Access the carb through the seat-tub bottom hatch, rotate up the carb vent tube (http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p48/dooley_09/Main/0308_1.jpg) and insert a plastic drinking straw, spray in some carb cleaner, then puff on the straw. The objective is to overpressure the fuel bowl chamber and force cleaner/fuel through the pilot fuel passageway (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyspAHrMbb8).

siting so long with bad gas it could also be a bad petcock. or it might also be pluged. spray some cleaner threw that also.and change the gas filter.
