Title: Exhaust end cover
Post by: Kieren on November 07, 2009, 09:27:40 PM
Hello there!

Just this Friday I got my hands on a Yellow / Blue 50cc Super 8 with a few marks here and there but have also noticed that the 'end' of the exhaust is missing.

Looking at others they have a round cover over the end of the exhaust but looking at mine theres just a 'bracket' with three holes for bolts.
Any ideas where i can get a replacement one of these?
Or even what it's actually called?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Fell off my gf's Agility 125 too.
Try Stadium Yamaha.
Kymco calls it "TAIL CAP ,MUFFLER". It will set you back approx. 30 US$+shipping.

p.s. 3 washers are additional 6 US$, 3 screws also 6 US$...

I would certainly pick up the mounting hardware LOCAL perhaps $1.00 give or take a quarter. Since axy's gf lost one too, a dab of Locktite on the threads may help.

These things DO want to fall off. This summer I did a 500 km round trip with People, two up. When I stopped at the destination, two out of four screws holding that exhaust pipe shield thing fell off!!! I checked them prior to leaving home!!!

Thanks for your help, the only one i can find is listed as for a Agility 125 so have emailed Kymco to see if they can tell me if it is the same part.

If your bike's muffler looks like this:

then YES, the end cap is the same as on Agility.

2 for the 3 bolts fell out on my scooter so i was lucky not to loose the last bolt and the cover. I just ordered 2 new bolts and on they go again.
I guess you have to tighten the bolts a little harder or check them once in a while.

Check page 72 in this sparepartscatalog :
http://mentos.wep.dk/scooterhjemmeside/download/super8_reservedele.pdf (http://mentos.wep.dk/scooterhjemmeside/download/super8_reservedele.pdf)

Its called "TAIL CAP MUFFLER" and you need the 3 bolts and some specielt kind og washers to.

Its a heat protection cover so little kids dossent get burned so much when they touch the exhaust  :o
It dossent do anything other then protect against burns.

And you can buy then at a kymco dealer in your area.
Remember to get the cover and bolts and also the speciel "washers" or what ever they are called.
the special "washers" protect the cover from the hot exhaust.
The cover would get hot and melt if you dont use theres "washers" course the cover is made of plastic.

Try finding a kymco dealer here : http://www.kymco.com/world_kymco/world_index.asp (http://www.kymco.com/world_kymco/world_index.asp)

My muffler end cap fell off my Agility 125 (or was stolen?) yesterday during my commute home. I did not even suspect it was loose.  I do not know if I would be able to find it along the road. :)  It seems like there should be a universal one that would fit. Or part numbers from other Kymco scooters for a similar part that would fit (so I could find one on EBAY). Does anyone know if  there are other ways to replace this besides goign to the dealer? I do not want to pay $40 bucks for this part. Thanks, Jon

If ever I'll loose mine, I'll just get a new after market muffler..

Good idea on going with after market exhaust if you lose your exhaust cap. It would be nice if there was a complete list somewhere of exhaust that exhaust options, whether they simply bolt on or have to be retrofitted, and what the result was in performance/sound.

I ended up finding my muffler cap on the side of the highway (522 in woodinville) the day after I lost it. 2 of 3 bolts and spaces were still connected to the unit. I bolted it back on with 2 bolts for now. Very lucky I found it, cause I only rode a portion of the same route as the day I lost it, and the fact that it was in plain site on the side of the highway. Kinda like finding $45 :).

(My bike is still stock. Still not sure what upgrades I want to do (muffler, rollers, tires, suspension, seat height (adding spacer to rear shock). ?).
