While my bike is torn apart I'm going to degrease the crap out of it and clean up all the guts.
From this 9 years of curd from light use.

I used O'reileys brand degreaser and Gunk "shine" protective coating. I just put on the protective coating when I took the pictures and quickly put it back together.

That's funny, my friends has a p250, he tore it all apart to replace plastics and cleaned it for hours, the bike ended up looking like new!!!

Yeah, post an after photo.

I'll have some pics up when I get home. It started raining so I couldn't finish the "shine" coat last night.

The inside matters! Great job and pics and thanks for sharing

He edited the first post so i never saw the after photos.
When you edit your first post you have to post up and let people know.

Is there anything you should take care to avoid when doing this? I'm assuming the tires at least.

Don't get water in the airbox. That's about all. Avoid harsh chemicals on the plastic parts due to discoloring etc.
