Did you get chrome one? If not, maybe can paint with high temp paint, like OEM exhaust painted black. Otherwise, just ride it, if come home wet, run it long enough to dry out. Will rust a little, but last long time. Hopefully, don't have to store outside.
I recently bought one and didn't get chrome, didn't want to pay extra $'s, not worried about it rusting a little. I have one on 03 that is probably 10 years old, rusted but runs/ sounds awesome. I care more about how it performs, less about looks, just me you may have different view. Cheers

VHT 1500*f Clear.
I use it on my 2t pipes, and it works.

Might want to consider having it powder coated. Shouldn't cost more then about $40. Most even offer a polished-look finish that looks similar to chrome. I never ride in the rain and I bring my scoot inside at night so that's how I keep mine from rusting.
