Title: buzzing at 10 - 15 mph in Like 200i
Post by: eleeburn on November 17, 2014, 12:36:53 AM
My Like 200i has a buzzing sound above 10 - 15 mph??    Dealer tells me that's standard for fuel injected engines.

Depends on what it sounds like, the efi does make s slight noise similar to valve noise. Try and get a video of it

You don't say where the buzzing is coming from or how loud it is. A little more help please. We can assume from the dealers response that it's from the engine but you should confirm this, also does the sound change during hard acceleration?

Did you test drive this unit before you drove it home, if so did it make that noise then, if you didn't ride your bike did you ride a sample model and did it make the same noise? Why not ride a sample unit at the dealer and if it doesn't make the noise point that out to the dealer. If it does make the same noise it may be (an added sound option) you didn't have to pay for/no extra charge.

Two questions:
A) Do you have a big wind screen? (I don't have a big screen - the wind noise would prevent me from hearing any injection buzz or even the valves buzzing while at any significant speed) A big screen might let you hear a lot more normal engine noises that we miss due to the wind noise.

B) Does the vibration/buzz go away if you add a lot more throttle? (this could be the low speed clutch pad chatter  that usually goes away when you twist in alot more throttle - and is also normal.)

Otherwise I'd be thinking plastic is buzzing somewhere on the scoot.
