Title: please help me understand
Post by: mrjlube on November 09, 2014, 01:10:56 AM
My xciting was bought new in 2010. It is an 09 model. This thing has NEVER started when the temp. Is below 40 F. I removed the spark plug to change it at 4,000 miles. Plug I removed was a ngk cr8e. The plug the dealer gave me is a ngk cr7e. My bike now starts right up and its 35 f today. Why does it start  now??

May have had a shorted plug, he gave you a hotter plug so maybe this?

" The insulator nose of a hotter spark plug also has a greater surface area that is exposed to more of the ignited gases and is easily heated to higher temperatures."
