hello guys, just found these end cans on ebay, anyone have one or heard of them? the reviews I have found are pretty good!!

cheers,

what's the main positive feature of them? More HP? More Torque? More noise? Better/deeper sound?
-
definitely looks!! but, supposedly better performance all round but I'm not bothered about that, I just think it looks damned good!! well this one:-
http://www.delkevic.co.uk/?section=shop&product=350mm_stainless_steel_oval_silencers&variant=KYMCO_DOWNTOWN_300i_2011-2014-5435 (http://www.delkevic.co.uk/?section=shop&product=350mm_stainless_steel_oval_silencers&variant=KYMCO_DOWNTOWN_300i_2011-2014-5435)
and........ Christmas is coming.............my good wife has recently asked what I would like.............tada!! ;D ;D ;D
cheers,
Don.

600.00$$$$$"S ?? ?? ?? for the first one!!!
The second one we've seen here... somewhere. I think it was 150 US. Google around a bit more. I know it's around for much less. Take the MRS. to dinner w/ the savings.
-
600$!! Its £129.00 on ebay but on their website its £5.00 cheaper!! I might treat her to a maccy d's if she behaves herself ;D ;D ;D
I've still got to raise the subject tho', plucking up the courage so to speak!! It's the look in her eyes that scares the crap out of me ;D ;D ;D
Cheers,
Don.

I answer solely to 700 lbs of dogs. I guess it's about the same feeling.
-
Just my 2 cents worth of opinion: "If it does not have a well documented gain on torque or peak power it is a waste of money."
I have only seen/had "mufflers" that have turned out to be annoying louder on longer trips, and looks is very "relative" to the individual observer. Very, very few aftermarket mufflers are really worth the money IMO.
My saying is: "It is the pilot who makes the iron fly." A better rider is faster, even with less HP.
Invest your money in advanced rider education, and have e.g fun on a race track.
I have had about 6 individual track-days and will out-run double HP bikes on twisting roads with a stock Super-Moto and "only" 50 HP, and with an original muffler... ;)
-
Very good point!
-
Just my second thoughts of this:
First: Downtown is a great bike but it is built on cost and it shows on some of the components. The exhaust is one of them. You just should not make an exhaust out of material that rusts.
Second: The main problem on scooter road handling is unsprung weight. You have both the engine and exhaust on unsprung side vv. a motorcycle which has these on sprung side. You cant do anything on engine but you can on exhaust.
Third: Imagine how rusty your silencer is on inside after prolonged use when you cant keep the outside rustfree. Reformulated fuel used nowadays creates a lot of moisture when used.
Based on this I argue: Using an aftermarket stainless silencer lowers your unsprung weight at least five kg *and* you can be sure that you do not have rusty metal blocking passages and causing back pressure on silencer.
PS. And it looks a thousand times better than black/brown pig iron + a piece of plastic

I think (99.9% sure) that my wife has ordered one for my Christmas present, when I asked her she went all coy, you know, smiling and saying "might have"! after thirty years of wedded bliss (???!!!) this means "yes" in my book!! then again, 00.1% I could be wrong....................I have been known to be wrong on very VERY rare occasions!! but please don't ask my wife about that!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
cheers,
Don.

I am certainly no scooter expert...(and I am still hoping someone WILL find the magic shock, but:)
Every well grounded scooter-expert writer which I have read says two things about scooters:
1) It does not ride like a Buick because it is a scooter.
2) Factory engineers designed the best exhaust to get the engine's power to the wheel.
A) You can buy prettier shocks but it is still going to ride like your 2 stroke or 4 stroke scooter over bumps.
B) You can buy more chrome, stainless steel and noise but your 4 stroke scoot won't be going any faster.
But, after spending all that $$$....you aren't going to believe A or B.
Most of them say it is better to spend your $ on the best tires and personal gear.....and/or lessons.

-
Nobody has said that the factory engineers don't know what is best for their engine. The problem here is the cost, economics dictate that they use the cheapest way to comply with the regulations not the best. The aftermarket however can use some creativity!
-
One of the things about the stock exhaust, they design it for noise suppression first, then cost, then emissions, then performance. They are heavy and don't look or sound that good. They are tuned for all around drivability, good torque and good cruising. Aftermarket exhaust is lighter(usually about half the weight for a good exhaust), sound wayyyy better, look better, and are tuned for higher hp. This hp however may come at a higher rpm so if all you do is sick the exhaust on without making the correct adjustments in the cvt you won't see much of a gain. I mostly use aftermarket pipes for the sound, i love my scooter rumbling waking people up when I leave for work haha. An aftermarket exhaust is in no way a magic bullet, but its a fun mod for the scooter IMHO.
-
Nice one bettin!! I bet your neighbours love you ;D ;D ;D
As I said earlier, I'm not bothered about the performance element, its just the look for me.
Cheers,
Don.
-
wayhay!! its arrived!! and do you know what my beloved other half did? well let me tell you, she opened the box and let me look/touch it, THEN promptly put it back in its box and sellotaped it shut!! I now have to wait until Christmas!!!
it was only a small glimpse/feel I had but it looks pretty damned good for the price I paid.
I will let you know how it is once I have installed it.
cheers,
Don.
-
Merry Xmas! ;D
-
cheers mate!! ;D ;D ;D same to yourself!!
its gonna be a long time coming tho'!! ;D ;D ;D

Sit in the bath tub crying... That'll make her give it up.
You can run around the house pretending to ride your scoot too. Just go VVVRRrooooommmm everywhere you go... She'll get the hint.
Either that or I have a spare room if she flips...
-
The rest of my nickel:
I have yet to see a single aftermarket exhaust that didn't look like it was made to fit --- you pick:
A riding mower
A tractor
A roof-top A/C unit
A terrorist's homemade F-150 with gun mount
Any one of 123 different Asian scooters, generators, 4-runners, snow blowers - any size motor, any color
My neighbor's turkey smoker
What I have never seen is an after-market exhaust "can" that looked like it ever came within a kilometer of an Italian, Asian, German, or American design studio. To actually design and 'sculpt' a muffler for each application is beyond the capability of any of these shiny tube makers, armed with the weld torch and home-made pipe bender. They'll whip you one up for @ $100 US and a carton of Marlboros.
I once ran a Honda bike all over southern California with an after-market exhaust. It was a Hunts tomato sauce can with nail holes. At least it was red and color coordinated with the red bike. (until the label burned off)
Bless the folks that are big enough to admit that these one size fits all shiny cans have NOT increased anything but the noise of their scooter....and that they are glad they kept the stock muffler under their beds so they can switch back.
Going to odd lots and buy a Thrush 'performance' muffler soon as I get done here. They come in 2 sizes so you can get the best from your car, truck, boat, plane, A/C unit, turkey smoker - foreign or domestic.

I need to laugh at all the comments here as it is the typical "man thing", and also an "age thing". PS: (I am a male, with many years riding, lets say some 200,000 miles in total).
My "Exhaust & Pipes evolution"
- First it couldn't be loud enough
- Then it couldn't be shiny enough
- Next it needed to make more power, and be lighter
- And now... I consider myself wiser and mature, as long as it works properly, AND is quiet, it's what works for the road.
- Because after all it's "myself", who can with SKILLS outshine others, and no muffler/exhaust pipe can do, that, only "brag", with nothing behind it than empty looks and noise.
Remark: Anybody has the right to go through the same evolution as I did, and I understand it, because I was there too.
OR, you could be SMARTER than I was and learn from my "experience" that I post here. Skip the muffler macho part and work on your skill level, with rider safety classes, and on-track training, I guarantee, you will be MUCH more impressive to others, and safer, than any shiny and loud muffler upgrade will do....
-
I guess they are both right... Cut off the muffler, and ride a straight pipe in protest of all the butt monkeys that but loud shinny pipes. I'm going to cut mine off right now. (muffler that is)
I thank you fellas for the insight.
-
Zombie, you will not believe how many "butt monkeys" I showed my (quiet) tail pipes (on more than one scooter), AND IT WASN'T FUNNY FOR THEM.
I passed a few Hardly Dayvidsons "on the outside" with my 150cc Scooter at "Deals Gap/the Dragon", and they were afterwards looking for me at the Gap Motel... so, IT WASN'T FUNNY FOR THEM? :-)
-
I'm just messing around. The "evolution" posted is 100% true. All that" loud pipes save lives crap" is just that, crap.
Depending on my mood someones loud pipe just might cost a life BUT I do have a loud pipe on one bike, a slightly louder pipe on another bike, and I am building a bike that will run 14" x 1 1/2" straight pipes so I guess that one will be the slightly louder-est bike. It's a just cause I can kind of thing.
I like the sound of an engine. More than most I would think. i build them/modify them, and REALLY like to hear them sing. Some people really don't know what to listen for or why they should listen. Those are the people that don't really understand un muffled engines or why others take the mufflers off.
Maybe it's like classical music compared to death metal. I actually prefer classical if given the choice... go figure.
-
I got to install the new exhaust today, first impressions are excellent and the quality is superb!
the install was pretty much straight forward except for hanger, the original bolt was way to long so I had to source one from the internet.
I have uploaded a few pics to photobucket.

the sound level at idle is a bit louder, 77db vs 81db (phone app!!) but, it sounds brilliant!! its a low throaty throb, I rode her to work tonight and I feel as if there is a bit more power (and noise!!), i'll have to get her on the motorway to really find out ;D ;D ;D
I wish I knew someone who could ride, I really would love to hear a drive by!!
let me know what you think!
Cheers,
Don.
-
It's the exact same construction as the "shorty" muffler I have on my 4t/50cc. I have to assume it's the same manufacturer.
I'll tell you... I love mine. It's a few years old, and just as good as new.
You're gonna love it. 8)

Cool man!!!! Any noticeable butt dyno gains? I have a stainless exhaust on my B&W, one thing I can say KEEP IT CLEAN!!! It'll look bad fast from road grime. Use polish once or twice a month. If you don't clean it, it gets pitted and discolored. Get someone to film a flyby so we can all hear it!
-
Cheers guys, I'll try and get a flyby filmed, don't know how yet, but I'll manage somehow, you JUST have to hear it!! ;D ;D ;D
It definitely feels like there is more power, I'll let you know on that one!!
Cheers,
Don.
-
You might have to up the main jet by one or two sizes to get the full effect from it.
Try getting a new spark plug, and run a mile or so at 1/2 throttle. See what the plug says.
Then try it again at or near wot.
You don't want to start melting valves... Not trying to worry ya. Just better safe than sorry.
-
Cheers for the input zombie, I'll definitely try the new plug route!
This is a quote from the web page.
•No rejetting or remapping is required after fitment however we always recommend a dyno test after fitting replacement parts to your motorcycle.
I might have a look to see if there is anywhere local(ish) that has dyno facilities!
Thanks again for the heads up.
Cheers,
Don.
-
The Dyno will tell you exactly NOTHING. It will compare before, and after but nothing about jetting. Plug chops, and butt dynos go a lot further for us.
-
If the dyno shop has a wideband probe and the proper training you'll be able to see if the air fuel ratio is correct for performance. But you won't be able to adjust much with the kymco ecu lol. The computer usually will compensate for an exhaust. Someone in Taiwan might sell a "chip" for the ecu to change fuel map
-
thanks guys!! I am now wondering if I have done the right thing!!
zombie, please help!! plug chop and butt dyno???? change plug and how it feels to me??? is that right??
I went out this morning and she felt and sounded great!!
cheers,
Don.
-
New plugs are pure white. When you run at ONE throttle position you can look down inside the plug for a dark ring. That ring should be like a coffee color, and in a complete circle.
Short runs, at one throttle position tell you the mix at that set jetting. WOT tells you the main jet, and 1/2 throttle tells you the main/needle setting.
The idle screw setting tells you the idle jet. If it idles best around 2 turns out the jet is fine. More or less turns out tells you if it is too lean or too rich.
Butt Dyno is simply the seat of the pants impression you get. Not very scientific, but it gets the job done, and saves drilling into your header for a proper dyno run. Pluss the 100.00 or so dyno time per hr.
One new plug will tell you what you need to know.
Keep in mind it is colder out now, and air is denser. That leads to leaner mixtures (more air), so I would look for a light coffee color to a dark tan.
Black is too rich, and almost white is too lean. It's easy stuff as long as you don't mind doing the jetting work (i hate that stuff)
-
Thanks zombie!! Great insight! I shall hopefully get a new plug from one of our auto stores in the morning.
Just quick question, is it a regular occurrence to have to rejet an engine after fitting a new exhaust??
Cheers,
Don.

Dude this bike has FUEL INJECTION!!!!! Stop confusing the man!
DonJack you don't need to do anything, your computer will make the necessary changes in fueling if it even needs to. Also the computer "learns" so the bike will get closer and closer to running perfectly the more it "sees" where the Air/fuel ratio is. Wouldn't hurt to look at the plug, but you won't be able to change anything anyway.

I got to stop taking crack...
Put a carb on the bike, and everything I said applies.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZvVeQI0heg (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZvVeQI0heg)
-
bettin, that's put my mind at ease, thank you!!
zombie, what were you thinking? scaring the c**p out of me like that!! leave the crack alone!! ;D ;D ;D ;D made me laugh tho' about putting a carb on!!
cheers,
Don.
-
I had to recover some how... Don't look out your window.
-
Put a carb on the bike, and everything I said applies.
LOL!!! ...and, you get a smoother acceleration curve! My GrandVista 250 with the carb runs smoother/more constant during acceleration than my 300i. I have not seen a dyno graph, but I bet there are spikes and valleys during acceleration on the 300i. A reprogramming of the eprom with a better Fi curve by some wizard would be great.
-
Mercruiser makes a diagnostic computer for the 350 chevy small block that gives you complete control over the mapping. This is something that even the chevy tool can not do.
I am curious if there is another tool that will re-map the Kymco ecm. Perhaps a dongle that you can hook up to a lap top, and gain access.
-
Hey lets make one for the kymco EFI and make millions ;) haha
-
Well maybe a few hundred... Supply/demand.
-
Like I said in another thread, I believe from 2013 on KYMCO changed the program in the computer. But they were not honest to start with and denied the problem, so now they don't want to admit that there WAS actually an "unclean curve" related to the the earlier (US) D/T's.
The reason why there is good evidence to me, there was a post here from a member about his hesitation problem on his brand new D/T300i , and the member received, after not giving up, a "new computer". He told me personally, "it is all resolved now".... Guess what, it wasn't a defective computer, the new computer has an updated new program.

Careful!
I bought Delkevic, but was not able to attach it.
The inside diameter of Linkpipe is 33mm, and outer diameter of the exhaust is absolutely impossible for 37mm.
It is the product of a really bad maker.
I did not do the user support at all either and returned goods against ebay/paypal.
I confirm the contents of the PDF file and should see what kind of state it is in.

who would be the person to speak to about creating a new map, software engineer or a computer programmer? or someone completely different!! it might be worth looking into!! millions to be made!! (ok, 1000's (ok 100's (ok 10's) )) ;D ;D ;D
I took her onto the motorway last night, but, due to roadworks I couldn't open her up fully!! but I could tell there was a big difference in acceleration there is probably a bit more top end too (hopefully!!). I got to 80 and the revs were just over 7k! I have 14g dr pulleys installed so I think it could be a combination of both working together! watch this space ;) ;)
mamo, mine went together perfectly, I did however use a little silicone just to make sure that the joints were sealed!!
here are a couple of close ups, I hope you can see them!

cheers.

Mamo, did your pipe come with a header pipe? I'm not sure what you refer to as the "linkpipe". The exhaust kit should come with a different header pipe (the pipe that attaches to the cylinder head) of larger diameter. DonJack did yours come with a different header, or was it "slip on"?
-
The "link pipe" is the part featured in Dons first Pict. It's the couple'r between the OEM pipe, and the slip on muffler. It clearly stated in that PDF that if the pie diameters/couple'r don't match then the supply of the proper part lies squarely on the manufacturer.
He just panicked, and sent it back too quickly.
-
Cool, missed that! That's kinda lame it didn't come with a header, imho that's the most performance robbing part on the stock system.
-
Do not misunderstand it. :-[
Because it is a slip-on type, header pipe is not bundled.
It links header pipe (original exhaust) and the silencer to the link pipe.
I ordered manufacture from a different production supplier, but cost 10,000 yen for Japanese Yen.
-
Thank you for donjack. ;D
I watched a photograph.
It was carved a seal 32-35mm and size by a muffler belt, and the thing which I was donated to was the same.
However, the original exhaust pipe of my Downtown had an outer diameter of 37mm and I was connected and challenged it, but was not its size at all.
-
To donjack ;D
When you took off an original silencer, I thought that an original exhaust pipe was accompanied by a joint gasket thick, but did you remove it?
The outer diameter of the exhaust pipe was 35mm when I measured it.
It was 37mm in the state with the joint gasket.
May it be said that the exhaust pipe of my machine is bigger than the exhaust pipe of your machine?
-
just for clarification I have just phoned delkevic uk, they told me that NO gaskets are used on our scoots, metal to metal so to speak, the guy I spoke to confirmed that I had done the right thing too by applying a small amount of sealer to the joints, everything was/ is nice and tight!
mamo, it is possible that in your country the header pipe is a different diameter, but I honestly wouldn't know for sure, I hope this helps!
cheers,
Don.
-
Hello donjack
A connection part seems to narrow when I watch your image.
I want you to watch the image that I took off an original silencer.
https://box.yahoo.co.jp/guest/viewer?sid=box-l-fdwzlo25glsn6kokxrmdykddq4-1001&uniqid=57c3b5c8-f98e-494c-a3e4-7b50d8452226&viewtype=detail#du%3D57c3b5c8-f98e-494c-a3e4-7b50d8452226%26ds%3Dbox-l-fdwzlo25glsn6kokxrmdykddq4-1001%26tu%3D57c3b5c8-f98e-494c-a3e4-7b50d8452226%26ts%3Dbox-l-fdwzlo25glsn6kokxrmdykddq4-1001%26vt%3Dpublic%26lf%3Dthumbnail%26ls%3D1%26lm%3D20%26il%3D1
Does a connection part narrow in the same way when I remove silver joint gasket of my exhaust pipe?
-
Mamo, looking at your picture, the gasket should have been removed. The gasket on my dt came away with my original silencer
Cheers,
Don.

Hello, donjack
What kind of feeling is the volume of sound of your "18 "Stainless Steel Muffler Silencer Exhaust Slip-on?"
I took "Exhaust Muffler Silencer Slip-on MINI 8", but have not been yet attached.
I do my best this weekend and am going to attach it.
-
The 18" is quite loud!
I thought you had sent your exhaust back! Lost in translation?
Your 8" mini will probably be a bit louder still, I hope you have friendly neighbours! ;D ;D ;D
Cheers,
Don.
-
To donjack ;D
You attached a projector light, but how did the power supply do it?
I want to remodel it like your motorcycle, too.
When I attach it, I want you to advise an art and matters that require attention.
I want to ask about the specifications of the light which you attached.
-
hello mamo, I hope this helps :)

Hello donjack ;D
Thank you for communication
"CREE U5 LED "is a good product.
It is three questions by addition.
1.Why did you have to remove bottom part of "the cage"?
2.In which device, do you change three phases of illumination of "CREE U5 LED "?
3.Did the + power supply connect it from battery directly?

Hello mamo, yes they they are very good!!
To answer your questions,
1. The cage was causing scratching to the mudguard.
2. You can change the light mode by the toggle switch, switch on=very bright, switch on off on = bright, switch on off on off on for strobe mode.
3. Yes the + connects to the battery directly.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
Don.
