Title: Belt restriction ??

Hello

When i have changed the rollers into the variator of a Kymco Agility 50 4t 2014 it was difficult to put back the belt onto the variator.

It seems that the belt was too short and i need to compress the rear spring to engage the belt into the pulleys and now it was possible to put the belt onto the front variator

I have not readed the size of the belt but my question is

Is it normal that the rear spring need to be compressed to put the belt onto the variator ?

Is the size of the belt is volontary too short to limit the possibility  to run completely on the  rear pulley ?

And so limit the speed of the bike ? On the front pulley there is a small space +- 2mm on the top unused by the belt (variator is unrestricted of course)

Everything you said is correct, and yes you do need to open the clutch some to get the belt over the crankshaft.

You always have to squeeze the clutch in to install a belt.
When it fits properly the belt will be 1-2mm below the top of the clutch pulley, and wrapped snugly around the crankshaft.

The best way to verify it is all working right is to draw a few lines on the face of the variator with a Sharpie or other Magic marker. When you ride the bike for a mile or so the marker will wear off, and you can see exactly how far the belt is traveling.
It should erase the lines to within 1-2mm off the top of the variator.
That shows you everything is opening the way it should, and the belt is the correct length.
