Anyone see any inherent disadvantages of hauling your scoot this way. I like it cause it puts most of the weight on the ground. sure your rear tire may wear out a little faster than the front but I like the idea of the heavy part of the scoot free wheeling behind you. should be able to be easily made for me by a high school welding shop student.

Position the scooter on the center stand and rotate the rear wheel with your hand to get a feel for "normal" rear gearbox resistance. If the clutch bell is freewheeling normally, this type of front wheel carrier will work fine. If broken belt fragments are binding the clutch bell, the CVT cover may need to be removed. Other clutch deficiencies may include a loose large nut contacting the inner bell surface, lack of torque driver bearing grease lubrication, or a non-retracting clutch shoe.

I've seen a few of those types of rigs.
Right from the get go they are not legal in many states.

You know why? It reminded me of the, tow the car behind the camper trick. Of course, I'd had a "Vehicle in Tow" sign on it.

I saw a photo on Pinterest of the same basic idea. The guy just stuck the front wheel into the trunk (boot, for some of you) and went off down the road. No foreseeable problems at all with that technique! ;)

If you take off the tire, and try to turn the output shaft by hand you cannot do it. The gear set is built to turn from the opposite end.
I don't know what if any issues this presents but I'm just sayin' all the load is delivered exactly opposite of the way the set was designed.
For a mile or so if I broke down... Maybe.
Several dozen miles to the dealer... No. Just my opinion.
The other thing to consider is the fella shows a motorcycle with a free wheelin sprocket. His gear box is not involved in the process.

Would this not be the same "load reversal" that occurs during normal deceleration . . rear tire force working against cylinder compression until the clutch pads retract from contact with the inner bell surface?

I'm not really sure about that because the engine is running on de-cell.
I'm just going by gut instinct on this one.
