Hi Guys, Finally found some time.
I've been thru the financial wringer in the past month. Bought a dual zoned property here in town w/ HIGH hopes of opening a boat storage/repair center, and a bike/small engine shop.
After closing/clearing the property the town notified me the property was no longer dual zoned (dwelling/commercial).
This should have been disclosed at or before closing but... We're working on re-couping the money, and reversing the deal.
Plan B:
I installed a carport for shade in the back yard of my house when I first moved in. That carport has now been closed in, and slabs poured making that my shop.
I let the storage buildings I was using go, and consolidated everything to the house. You never realize how much crap you have till you have to move it.
This is where it all gets interesting. I've mentioned my buddy before, the fella that works overseas in a job that doesn't exist. Security Specialist is the title he prefers.
Anyway this guy has been a wind surfer since the beginning of the sport, and has always had some wild ideas for board designs, and continued evolution of the sport.
we got to talking/sketching some ideas, and it hit us both like a bolt of lightning.
Dual sport boards. I'm talking about a completely new genre in water sports. Tri-hull sail board designs that quickly convert to hydro-foil sit down sail boats.
Sort of a combination of a sail board, and a Moth.

I've been building boats my entire life, and have a few tricks under my belt. I am talking about a watercraft powered by sail that will break world speed records in several classes using the same board/boat.
The most important aspect of the entire idea is related to the "Golden Ratio".

Basically a mathematical formula for creating beauty/function. almost everything in nature is able to be reverse engineered into numbers that equal the numbers in this ratio.
The all new designs don't stop w/ the boat. I have sail designs that double the amount of energy in the same footprint, automatic anti pearling systems built into the board, hand controls for rudder/mast brake on the boom ect... .
Along w/ the boat itself there is a solid business plan to introduce the design. It involves one of the best know surfers on the planet, and the single largest resort chain.
We have begun setting up the LLC/business plan/web site, and ad campaign.
The company name is RayMaran Tri Foil Technologies. The web site is under construction, and that is raymaran.com The name is a combo of manta Ray, and tri Maran.
I can't go into details of board design until we acquire Copy rights, and perhaps patents but I can say there are at least a dozen models in the first 3 years of production, and they are all designed using the Golden Ratio as a basis.
The kicker is at the end of the second years production the whole she-bang is moving to Brazil. Floranopolis to be precise. I have been talking to a Brazillion-aire who is interested in my fuel column, and started researching the cost of doing business there. Guess what? It's a no brainer (perfect for zombies) Hopefully I can kill two birds w/ one stone
You all know how I feel about the superstructure of America so I won't go into the reasons for taking a multi million dollar industry out of this country. Bottom line is I don't like paying for other people to have kids that grow up having kids for other people to pay for.
Life is changing, priorities are changing..
Just thought I would fill you all in.
On another note... I found a 1969 Triumph 650 engine, and a hand built hard tail rolling chassis.
I traded the owner for a chopped up Rat Scooter I built from a 2004 Tao Tao.
Sooo at the moment I am preparing my shop for building a prototype of the sail board/boat, and setting up a bike table to build the '69 hard tail.
If all goes as I hope I will have a prototype board built by December 30, and will be taking my dog, and pony show on the road by April 2015 to promote the design. Passport in hand, materials in the shop and Triumph parts ordered. Life is never boring.
Sorry for the long wind. Just thought I'd fill you all in.

Not disclosing things prior to closing sucks ! We found out , after being in our house for a few months , that it had sustained damage from an electrical fire that was not disclosed to us... started replacing old wiring with Romax immediately after that .

It's been a CRAZY ride here in the last 2 months You remember my dog fight... Broken wrist + lots of holes. Well 5 weeks later I tore off the end of my left Pinkie. Caught it in a trailer hitch, and couldn't hold the weight cause of the wrist. 37 stitches to re-connect it. Cool huh?
Well 2 weeks after that I stepped into an open fuel fill hole in the ground, and broke the 4th top bone in my right foot. Yeah there was some drinking involved, and a brief fight shortly after I got up. I didn't appreciate the cover being left off the fuel fill, and let it be known .
Sooo I have had as much down time as I have had up time.
I actually had my house sold in order to build the new facilities (boat storage/repair), and had to back out. Thank God the city informed me of the loss of zoning on the new property...

I'm completely stoked for this. It's actually a five partner deal (on the boat/board).
My daughter, Johnie, His son, myself, and I'm not allowed to reveal the surfer involved. He has a 5% interest.
The resort chain has exclusive rental for year one, and exclusive sales for year two but no company interest.
On paper the whole deal is a winner. Computer models show the designs are winners.
Now if I could just find my kitchen... I'm hungry.

I love to sail and had a Dover Dory, 14 ft sail boat and I had a lot of fun in it.
Sailing is the ultimate relaxation but can be hyper and exciting like in your video's.
The last place I had my sailboat and powerboat was in the Ventura Isles Marina, in Ventura, CA.

We'll all find out in December if the boat is a winner. From there I'll start building the guest houses, and collecting addresses to send plane tickets to. Of course it's a BYOB deal. All I keep in the fridge is Formaldehyde.

I never really enjoyed sailing myself. In most cases you can walk where ever you are going faster than a sail boat can get you there.
However I have worked on some of the fastest hulls on the water, and had the chance to meet some of the pioneers in hull design thru my career, and realized what has been missing from sailboat design... Fast hulls.
Traditional sailboats are designed exactly like rocks. hollow out a rock, add a sail, and you have a Hunter or Larson, or Southern Cross. Put a sail on a record setting tri hull hydroplane, and you have either the slowest hydro ever or the fastest sailboat ever.
This whole deal reminds me of that Newton guy, and his apple. Everybody thought the Earth was still but it took Newton to realize the Earth is constantly moving up, and the apple stays still.
Can you imagine me explaining all this to the CEO's of some of the most powerful companies?
That's why I have partners... I just build things, and stir the sh** pot from time to time.

Not banging you over the head but next time ask those all important questions of a disinterested person (the town) before hand. Never ever trust someone that stands to make money off of you.
Good luck getting a full refund reversal of funds, you may have to threaten to sue the realtor to light a fire under them. Full disclosure is part of the law.

That's sort of the problem. My Realtor is also a City Commissioner.
The only thing I stand to lose is the money spent clearing several old plywood/ tin sheds, and several large dead pine trees.
The people that bought the property bought it 2 years ago at a bank auction. When they purchased it the property had dual zoning. Shortly after the city re-zoned that whole stretch of 98 to business/light industrial only. No residential. It had something to do w/ beautification grants the state gave Carrabelle.
I will be getting back all the closing costs + contract fees in the next 30 days (24 actually) but I am fighting w/ the lawyer for the seller for the improvement costs.
What this came down to is a conflict of interest, and it weighs squarely on the City.
The whole deal reminds me of the bilge over at The Hull Truth... A bunch of Jack wads spewing words that have no particular meaning. They just sound good when put in a certain order.
Could you believe that thread?? What a bunch of sh**! A gazillion views, and hundreds of replies with just a dozen (or less) positive posts.
I haven't given up on that battle either. I have several dozen friends right here that all have the same out look.
Bottom line is Brazil. Yes they do have the same super structure as us but theirs is based on the reality of their economy. With massive exportation of oil, and sugar they have become the 6th leading exporter on the planet. They don't need or use oil, and sugar is renewable. Their national debt has been falling since 2009. I can't think of a better place to run a company from.

Like all forums people need to get a feel for who they are dealing with before they are comfortable. Best of luck there on THT, let me know when you post there and I'll check in on the bilge as I don't go there often.
About Brazil, I've been there and it's a beautiful country but dirt poor and also very rich. If you ever went and found yourself in the wrong spot you can turn up in trouble quick. That said the food there is beyond great IMO, the beaches also great, some of the people are warm and friendly, but keep in mind the poverty if you go, it can be scary.

Here's the thing about that...
My bud Johnie has been pretty much everywhere, and Brazil is pretty much the capitol of the world for his type of people (security specialists), and he has been maintaining a house there (Floranopilas) for 15 years. He knows the lay of the land, and has friends in all the right places there.
HIS end goal was to do 6-7 m,ore 3 month contracts, and retire there. He's 43, and getting to the point of actually worrying about being able to finish these "contracts".
Of course we were LOADED when this whole boat idea came up but for whatever reason we both kept thinking about this (privately), and when the subject came up again he had a solid game plan, and I had a few Blender renderings of the board design, and a sh** load of info on similar sport designed boards/boats.
What it came down to is a gelling of his/my ideas, and the research took off full speed.
Just to give a base line concept... Those Moth boats in the vid sell for approx 20-35 thousand each. There are 45 thousand of them in the US alone.
The cost to build one is under 4 grand...
The sailboards everyone uses are about 4-5 grand each. The cost to build them is about 7-8 hundred each.
I'm planning on hitting the middle of those markets w/ an all new design combining the best of both, as well as a few things that have never been done before. These should sell between 15-20k each.
THEN the high end Carbon Fiber designs (up to 24 foot) will be in the 50-60k range.
The only hurdle was getting a promotion/ad campaign going.
My daughter fixed that with some very real interest from a friend of hers (the 5% partner).
With this persons interest, Johnie's connections, and my designs we have a solid plan of 450 boards in the next 2 years. Fifty the first year are going to some of the top water sportsman in the world, and 400 are going to a resort chain.
Then Brazil... we open a 20-25 employee facility, and set up shop. We build everything in house. Sails, deck rubber,masts,booms,boards, foils, everything.
Remember the American Chopper guys? Remember the first episode?
I'm seeing the same thing here... Building boards for the biggest companies in the world.
Imagine Petrone or Bacardi having one of the fastest, and newest design water sports boards, and the largest resort chain setting up an ad campaign to promote them both. What could you charge them for such a board? Name your number...
without going too far, part of the initial prospectus for the resort is 54,000,000.00 income on rentals based on a ten hour day in ONE year. (10 boards x 40 locations). It's, as I said a no brain-er.
This whole deal should launch around April 2015. The first 50 will be underground, and as quite as possible due to fine tuning, and user input for design improvements but after these 50 are tuned it is off to the races. The income from the initial 50 is enough to begin building the US facilities (small warehouse 5-7 employees) for building the resorts 400, and I plan April 2016 will launch the entire line, and the resorts take delivery of their boards Dec 2016.
Back on the topic (Brazil) It beats the crap out of Viet-Nam! That was the first option for facilities. I appreciate the insights, and that is the only reason I posted all this. (already taking crap for it). Thanks 008!

I'm on a roll here. Now that I found out girls like guys they can nurse back to health I am making up for lost time. Simple formula.
The property is an acre, and a half. It has a newish double wide on it that was always occupied, and several home built sheds. What I did not know was the reason it was fore closed, and auctioned was
the owner was planning on building a small house, and removing the trailer. They were informed of the zoning change to commercial, and decided to let it go, and build their place elsewhere.
I listed my house, and sent an offer to the new owner who accepted. Closed on the property w/ EVERYTHING I had in the bank, and was going to re-coup w/ the sale on my place.
While I was removing the sheds, a city zoning officer asked what I was going to do w/ the double wide, and I said "live in it". "NOPE yer not" were the next words I heard...
The whole thing went south. I called my Realtor, and the lawyer for the seller, and found some paperwork from the title company was never completed, The disclosure.
The deal was dissolved, and I returned the contract money on my house. Soooo I'm back home, and waiting for a rather large check.
That's what sparked the whole new boat idea. Frustration.
I might take you up on the brain surgery... Can we do this thru the forum? Sort of you tell me where to change things, how to stop massive hemorrhaging, and I just follow the directions?
I hope so... At the very least I may get another new nurse out of it.

I have an ice cream scoop that is missing the hoop thingy, A fork that is bent like a dope spoon, and a box of nails that rusted into one giant useless nail.
Could I use these? I'd hate to waste the good silverware on something as trivial as my own surgery.

I'm not even going there.
I used the clump of nails as a stand in brain, and sent mine to Jersey for powder coating. Looking good is 1/2 the battle.
On a lighter note...
I've been talking w/ my partners in crime (so to speak) about Brazil. Granted my bud has connections there but I have connections in the Bronx, and I really don't enjoy living there.
I've been researching alternatives, and you all are sort of my spring board for ideas.
There are several countries on the latitude I prefer that have no corporate tax. Zero! Problem is the cost of living, and visas for x-pats make them less than desirable for start up companies.
Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and the Philippines all have GREAT incentives for start ups, and decent corporate tax schedules. Plus an almost unlimited work force.
New Zealand is rated as the #1 country for start ups by Forbes, and it is far less of a "culture shock" living there.
I guess what I am getting at is Brazil has gone down on MY list to a position just above Pakistan, and New Jersey. So far location is the only bump in this road.
On a progress note... I finished the business plan last night (4:00 am, minus plant location), and have that ready to be reviewed before copy right. 37 pages of info. (that's why I jumped ahead and started the surgery myself) Fun... Fun... Fun.

I am taking that into consideration. I have several dozen friends (thru Modern Distiller forum) that live there, and from the general consensus they believe their Govt. is rather neutral in global politics. Mainly due to the fact they are literally at the end of the world, and have no other resources than brilliant weather, and a relaxed life style.
I have included my opinions on the "New world Order", and listed this as my MAIN reason for wanting to take the show on the road.
I am also investigating subsidiary companies, and how they can be established without upsetting my "host" government. A main part of operating a business as an ex-pat in NZ is investing in their economy. They do have minimum guidelines that have to be met for visa purposes, and eventually naturalization. I'm finding incorporating in a 0% corporate tax country or having at least one company officer in such a country to be part of the solution of keeping our assets intact (just in case).
As you pointed out, and as most will realize, Gold will be an asset till the end. There are no rules (so far) as to what you can invest your assets in.
This is all to complex for what I know right now, but I am learning. The help, and advice from everyone is more appreciated that any of you can imagine.
I am finding global politics to be quite complicated (DUH!), and most of the rules are buried sooooo damn deep it is difficult for a regular joe to get into the game. Thank God for the Internet tho.
You can probably tell from the times of my posts, I have been on this computer close to 20 hours a day, and I see no quick solution. It's a matter of plugging away, taking notes, and dotting all the i's.
As soon as I am done here I am off to the Fl.gov web site to incorporate the LLC, and secure the company name. I have also registered w/ the Better Business Bureau here to take classes.
They have a sort of mentor program where you can learn from retired business fellas some of the things you need to know. I know NW Florida may not have all of the best of the best but I may at least learn where I need to look for answers.
I want to keep this 100% legit, and above boards. I can see a multi million if not billion dollar industry spawning from my concepts. I prefer humble but I have ideas that are nothing like anything else that has been done. I'm sort of a visionary when it comes to mechanical sh**, but I have never paid attention in school so I did handicap myself. Now at 55yo I am looking to start a whole new game.
Combining what I know with what I now want to learn should provide me with what I want. A way to make my daughter wealthy, and a legacy as the innovator of a whole new generation of water sports.
This up coming year will tell. You all will either see me wipe-out at the bottom of this wave or you will be receiving plane tickets to anywhere you would like to go (after I pay off your mortgages).

I left NY 15 years ago because I couldn't handle another winter working in the boat yard. Even tho the brain is dead the nervous system is on over drive to compensate.
Mild weather is fine, and even welcome but frigid is out. I'm a water baby, and always have been so I need warm climates.
