I have a 2007 Agility 50.
I purchased it not running, I have discovered that it has only 15 pounds of compression.
I think this job, rings and piston is out of my league, What would be a fair price to expect to pay at a shop?
Is any reader in the Tucson Az. area able to do the job?

for the price of a re-bore, piston/ring kit, gasket set, you can get an aftermarket cylinder kit complete. If the compression is that low I would carefully inspect the lower end for wear. It dosen't sound like you are to "into" tearing it down yourself, so I would think $400.00-$600.00 US would cover a rebuild at a good shop. With all the correct parts a re-build should take 3-4 hours. There may be a shop local to you that will take a core on your engine, and supply a rebuilt to you. Then again if ALL else is good it should only take about an hour or so to change the piston/rings, about $50.00. Is yours 2stroke or 4?

The 400 to 600 estimate may be high. I should think that would cover all repairs, including any carb cleaning and adjustment. If you pay that much, you should get back a very smooth running bike.

That is exactly my thinking. I run my own business (fiberglass/ paint) and will always give a high estimate to cover any incidentals. If the shop is honest, and good... the repair can come in around 1/3 - 1/2 less. Hope it works out for you Laraway. If you would please post back w/ your results, you may help another in your situation.
