Title: Clock went blank
Post by: Chris0381 on July 22, 2014, 12:20:11 PM
Not sure what happened, but my clock is now blank, all other lights and blinkers are working. Took off panels and see no loose connections and fuses seem OK.

Noticed 4 wires coming out of the clocks rear panel, is there any way to give power directly to these wires to see if it is a loose connection. I dont need the clock and thus wont trailer it to New Haven for warranty work.

I did disconnect the battery to install a USB power port directly to the battery but thats about it.

Thanks

Not sure on that one. When you disconnect the battery, it should just clear the time and date settings, but should still be working.
Wish I could be of help, but I haven't had that one happen yet. Let us know if you figure it out.

Don't know how but I took my battery off today to wire dremel everything and coat with dielectric grease and during reassembly, the clock suddenly worked again. I believe I disconnected and reconnected the CDI in there also to clean out the battery compartment.

The acid corrosion/crystallization after 3 months was welded onto everything. It needed a wire wheel to get it off. Also the 4 drain holes below the battery were plugged. May be a good idea to check on things in there more frequently.

Drill out the drains to 1/4". That will help.

Thanks again Zombie. I definitely do that.
