...On my r12, I removed the airbox, installed a high-flow air filter, 102 jet...
-
i want to keep original airbox...do you know if the restrictor must be there or not?
-
...mine did not have a restrictor...
...I would suspect that if you remove the restrictor, you will have to increase your jet size...
..don't run lean!!
-
of course...i think it must be there...

do you know what you jet size is now?

i put an #86 ;)

That's a baffle to redirect water. It will not change the amount of air flow if you remove it!

..in my experience with my r12, an 86 would work just fine with the stock air box...
..and zombie said that's just a water deflector anyway...

it change, it allow more air ;)

The whole key to the air box is, the inlet/ outlet sizes. Very little inside will change the volume of air moving in or out. The baffle only redirects the flow of air to remove any water that may have gotten in. the stock box can be gutted, without changing the amount of air that can enter or exit. Think about a milk jug with 2 straws... only so much in, and out.
