Title: weak spark
Post by: csor.zola on May 29, 2014, 07:27:11 PM
Hi all,
My friend has given me his bike to check it. It won't start. So, the first thing I checked was the spark plug. And I straight away noticed the the spark is very very weak. It could hardly be seen it. My first thought was the ignition coil. So, I took it off and swap it with a good one with no avail. Can the problem be with the cdi unit? My other thought was maybe the magneto. But how can i check it? Or any other suggestions?

Is "his bike" an Agility 125?  Why did you not also swap the CDI?

Either the CDI or Stator can produce weak spark conditions. Is the bike running at all?

Weak looking does not really mean too weak to run. They do increase voltage as the rpm's build.

His bike is not agility. Chinese one. I think longjia. It is not running at all. He gave me to check because something was bad with the carb. But I could not even start it up.  And then I noticed the weak spark. Very very weak.
I think I gonna check the stater first.

I would stick w/ the fuel system for now. Clean the tank/petcock screen, rebuild the carb, and replace the fuel/air filters.
THEN if it is still a no start go on to a compression test, and finally the electrics.
