Title: What tools do you carry
Post by: Chris0381 on May 08, 2014, 11:12:14 AM
Besides the tiny tool pouch, what equipment or tools do you pack for a ride of say 50 miles. I need a good carrying bag/box for the back; $30 budget any recommendations here in the states.

Thanks

On the tools, just look at every nut and bolt that you might need to remove to do an emergency repair, or re-tighten if it comes loose, and make sure you got it with you.

As far as a cheap bag, I just use a waterproof backpack from Walmart, and set it on the floorboard with the top handle hooked on the bag hook. About as simple as you can get, but it works!  The rear rack on a Super 8 is mostly for looks. It's a royal pain to tie anything to it without it shifting around on you.

I don't carry plastic money... sidewalk vendors prefer cash... roadside mechanics prefer cash... they don't accept credit cards....   ;)

Thanks

I may just pop in a 10mm 1/4 drive + extension to the kit. Noticed my rear turn signal was lose on my last ride.

Yeah, 10mm, 8mm sockets and something to turn 'em with, maybe a couple of combination wrenches to match, tube of Loctite red or blue. A 50 mile ride is really pretty short unless you are on a 50cc then it may warrant a 1-gallon gas can strapped down somewhere to MAKE SURE you can get the the next fuel station. Really, on any Kymco, all you gotta worry about is the heat shields on the exhaust working loose. That is covered by the 8 & 10mm sockets and Loctite. Do that before you leave and then all you gotta bring is the gas can.

I hate those things! Can never figure out how to get them open, or worse - can't decipher how to close them so end up trying to tighten a screw with razor sharp blades and saws and fish hooks and eye-pokers sticking out all over. Once I've drawn blood, I throw them on the ground and kick them under the shrubs and put the screw in my pocket. Should come with a box of band-aids.

I would list the tools and parts that  I carry under the seat of my scoot - but Vivo would report me to the moderator. (Yes, Iridium spark plugs are reputed to last 100000 miles - so, two spares should be plenty.)

... and yes, it does fit in that tool box if you pack it right. The couple of bits of clean rag are handy not only for wiping the crap off you hands, they stop the tools rattling around.

... plus, a good puncture repair kit and decent tyre pressure gage in my rack bag.  :)  Now, would one of you guys mind telling me how you get a whole series of photos on one post. I only seem to be able to get one at a time due to the file size.

That's a coincidence... I've been posting quite abit on an Aussie Distillation forum. Bangers, and Bols kinda place. I found one very interesting fact in posting there. There are as many dunks in the Pacific North West (USA) as there are on the entire Australian continent. But not by many

I guess a quick stop over there couldn't hurt. Gotta get my Red Bull on now. :D

What happens when you mix Red Bull, and Viagra? It gives you Schwings! ;D
