This last weekend after taking a look at my roller weights, I apparently didn't tighten the 17mm nut tight enough, it fell off during a ride with an amazingly loud scary screaming sound while going up a hill! I pushed it home and cracked it open. I noticed the drive belt was looser. Now today the scooter broke down, luckily I was close to home. I cracked it open and the belt has no tension at all. did I totally ruin the belt?? i didn't know they could stretch like that... maybe something else is wrong?
any input would be greatly appreciated!!!

If the drivebelt seem loose it dossent mean that it has been streched.
I dont think they strech they just break i think.
If you got some pictures that would be nice.
Or maby have a look at some drivebelt on the web to compare the strechynes.

Did you check to see if anything was bent or warped?

I can't see any obvious damage to anything, it's pretty weird. i will look at it more tonight when i get back from work...
Is there a tensioner somewhere in there?

The large spring inside the clutch boss "acts" as a tensioner. you can check it by grabing the pulley in both hands, it should take considerable force to move it out. The stock belt can tear the filaments that bind it together, causing a stretch, you should be able to spot this by torquing the belt sideways, all along the length. you will find a soft spot that will flex more than the rest. If you have to replace the belt I would stay w/ the stock #'s, as long as you have the rest of the tranny parts stock. The reason is, most of the kevlar replacements are made to match their own components, meaning slightly different fit.

i had to take it to the shop... they can't figure out what's wrong with it yet!!! sh*t.... i will post back after i find out more...

The problem was actually a nylon gear for the oil pump had shredded, I just got it back from the shop. Engine rebuilt, covered by warranty.
They had to really rip into this thing to figure out what happened. . . There was another one at the shop that had the same problem, also a 2009 model. . .
hope this info ends up helping someone with a similar problem, if it happens to anyone else. I was without my scooter for 5 months!!!!!

I dont see how the nylon gear for the oil pump could have anything to do with the belt tension...
You lucky if you got it fixed for free if it was you own foult not tightingen det 17 mm enough.
But 5 months thats WAAAAAAY to long.
But hey next time tighten that that nut better.
You can bye a torque rench to get the proper tightning.

sounds right to me it took me about 5 to 6 monthes to get mine back from kymc0.
just to put a new crank in. kymco is slow at doing there job I was so mad it took so long
almsot half the summer in the shop. not right at all.

Maby if the shop like you borrow a scooter in the meantime that its a little better but thats like saying we got all the time in the world and our custumers can wait...
Try telling them if its okay you pay for the scooter in 5-6 months or when ever you feel like it.

Yes, perhaps a loan scooter would speed them up a bit. If they want their scooter back.

...sucks for that long of a wait...just plain stupid...
