I'm curious about something. Normally I average about 52 to 53 MPG (22.5 KM/liter) and I know that depends on speed, roads traveled, headwinds and 1000 other variables.
But what is the ave you think for a Kymco 500?
Is there a published number somewhere?
More curious than anything.

My 2012 500 is avg 45mpg. I just turned 600 miles. :(

Never got my 2009 ri over 48mpg with any octane or driving cond, windscreen or roller size size. The injected 500s seem to get worse mpg than the carbed version.

2007 X500 (carbureted) with E10 fuel: 2242 litres used during 46539km: averaged 48.8 mpg (US).
When cruising long distances in warm weather, I can get about 55 mpg.
But down to 40 mpg, if I want to have fun in the twisties.

My '09 with fi averages 49mpg (U.S.). As high as 55 with no luggage, cool day - cool for south Texas as it was below 90. I tour a lot like Sissy Marty who travels with a mate. I ride solo, frequently with topcase, saddlebags and bedroll onn passenger seat.
I go S'camping - scooter camping - so I carry a tent, stove, food, and of course more clothes and heavier sleeping bag in the winter. It is a lot of fun. Going on a 4 day adventure within the next week.

Now 1000 miles on my 2012. Best mpg 56, worst 42 driving it at 75 mph. Had hoped for better but that's not so bad. ;D

Then I got a Honda Magna motorcycle which is a V4. If I exert all my will power to control my right hand, it will get almost 40. Usually it gets about 36.
My 09 with fi gets better than my 07 with carb.
HGW, are you still coming to SA for the Spring Fling?

I checked my new 500 for the first time a few days ago and it was getting 45 mpg, which I think is terrible. My Goldwing gets that and the NT700 averages 55 mpg.
I will say this though: My past Burgman 650's and My past T-max 500 got about the same.
I think the problem may be one of gearing: When a 500cc KYMCO scooter is redlined at 85-90 mph indicated, it is geared way to low, like riding a motorcycle around in 4th gear all the time or riding a 6 speed bike in 5th all the time. More RPM's= more fuel consumed.

Get 1 - 2- gram heavier rollers Porkie. I'd suggest 1.5 heavier, and see if that is enough for you. They will lower the rpm thru the entire range. That is their job. Controlling RPM.

If you want to try Sliders I highly recommend them. If you want to use rollers we/you can look up the size on the Stadium Yamaha web site. From there I suggest you take advantage of the dealer account set up w/ SPI.
The rollers are the heart of your CVT. The weight of them controls everything else.

Dr. P sliders will increase rpms at hiway speed. They are for quick acceleration. And sometimes not compatible . . . well there is another couple of threads about that.

That is sort of correct. They ACT lighter at the same weight as rollers. If you are happy with your TOP rpm then you have to go 1 - 2 gram heavier with Dr. P's than the rollers you have. They do this so people will actually feel/hear the difference in the engine.
I have 7 gr. Dr.P's in my 50cc that gives the same top rpm as 5 gr. rollers
And yes for sure... You feel the biggest change in take off, and mid range torque.

120 round trip today and I got 44 mpg with mixed conditions: 50 to 60 mph cruise speed, into terrible headwinds, then downwind and up and down curving country roads. The 500 is a great scooter!
