I saw this pic and it got me wondering, what areas can I attach tie downs to to trailer my scooter? Attaching them to the handles like the pic below seems that it would put a lot of stress on the handle bars going down the road hitting bumps. Plus I don't really want to buy the extra plate shown.
When there's earthquake, the first thing I secured were my wine bottles! Lol!

I have a hitch mounted carrier for my pick up that I use to haul the scooter into the shop if I can't ride it there. Anyway, to address your point, I tie down both the handlebars and the back end by the rack for my top case, which is bolted directly to the frame. Most of the tension is on the rear tie downs, and the handlebars are tied down just tight enough to keep it stable but not bend them. If you use 4 tie downs, you should be fine. I've never had any problems - just drive carefully and the scooter stays very secure.

Thanks for the link. Looks nice. The pic of pulling a motorcycle on it looked fine (higher clearance on a moto) but you have any trouble with the bottom of the scoot dragging on the hitch once the front tire is up but the back one isn't yet.

No problems high centering getting the scooter on the carrier. I try to park with my truck's front wheels elevated a bit so the rear end is lower and decreases the angle of the ramp. If I can't do that, I have a longer folding ramp that I also use. The longer length keeps the loading angle manageable and prevents high centering.
