Title: Pet Peeves
Post by: CROSSBOLT on March 01, 2014, 07:05:16 PM
Stumbled on that header at Cafe' Racer forum and had a good laugh. Thought it might be kinda fun here just to see what really bugs youse guys.

It won't crank.

A&P mechanics that think they know everything since they went to A&P school.

Bill Gates thinks he is such a big shot he otta get a pass from the Bellevue, WA cops when he is stinking drunk and weaving all over the road.

Bill Gates makes millions by "marketing" products that are not finished.See Windows '95 and beyond.

Scooter/motorcycle dealers that charge for "Dealer set-up" and don't even check the oil level.

Scooter/motorcycle dealers that don't put all the parts on the bike you just bought and then ignore you when you discover it.

Little, bitty, skinny guys near a university/college that have so much head hair they gotta keep it in a filthy knit bag.

Harley riders that trailer their bikes to Daytona.

Lawyers and doctors that think they know how to fly (there are some exceptions) when they are in flight school.

Tires that are not round.

Car mechanics that think if they get the gages on a wheel alignment machine "in the green" they got it "good enough".

MBAs that think they know everything about business.

Marketing people of any kind.

Sniveling, little snots like Jay Carney explaining the latest Presidential insanity.

People that bunch right up to the baggage conveyor so no one can see their bag.

Guys in suits (MBAs) that defer airline maintenance who never are prosecuted when planes crash because of deferred maintenance.

FAA Operations types that think they know everything about flying.

FAA Medical types that think they know anything about medicine.

Air Traffic "Controllers" before the strike.

Conservative talk show hosts that ignore really important issues (Fat Boy Limbaugh at the top of the list).

There. That ought to be good to start!

Tailgaters.
People who think the speed limit sign indicates the minimum speed permitted.
People who seem to scream, "Get outta my way!" by their driving habits.

People who don't discipline their children.

People who give their opinion then get all outraged when you give them yours.

People who talk and text on the phone while driving.

When the flap of material on the zipper gets stuck in the zipper.

People in cars who won't give way to you when you merge.

People who speed up when you go to pass them.

Rude people that jump the queue when your buying a coffee at 8:00am on a Monday morning....grrrrr

Teenagers who don't wear their hat properly...... I saw one who had his hat on backwards and was holding his hand up to shade his eyes...... Idiot!!!!!!

People who put on FB that they just went to the gym...... Hello unless you fell over on the treadmill, we don't care.

The price of fuel in Australia!!  $1.60 per litre.

People who leave one square of toilet paper on the roll or a tiny dribble of milk in the bottle...aaarrrgggghhhhhh.

People holding up the line paying for a bottle of pop or a bag of potato chips with a credit card.

Harley riders trying to take back their two-finger "wave" when they see that you are on a scooter.  Well, not really a pet Peeve, but just humorous!

Regarding 'tailgaters' :

I feel it is my calling to personally slow down every tailgater in the MidWest.....
When I drive my county truck every day....guess who loves to see a tailgater in the rear view mirror!?

Pretentious people
Mean people
People who park in handicap spots because "they're just going to be a minute"
People who give financial advice when they themselves are going through bankruptcy
People who talk about their delicate stomach while weighing 400 lbs
People who don't think rules apply to them
People who expect everything rather than earn it.
Ok I have to stop or I'll be looking for a therapist.
Ride safe

You betcha, Word: Aloha Airlines that blew its top, lost a stew and then landed safely, thanks to the Cap'n & First Officer (a girl!) after being told by Boeing they needed to sideline that airplane and four others for corrosion and stress correction. The feds told them their PAPERWORK  was OK so the suits kept all five flying until the top of the cabin blew off.

Alaska Airlines lost a DC-9 in the water off Los Angeles because the stabilizer trim jack separated destroying pitch authority. The flight crew fought for control from 20000 ft for 9 minutes before impact with the Pacific Ocean. Turns out the jack maintenence, a real PITA, was deferred by the suits in the company for YEARS.

These are only two examples......

Here is another one: Rider of a Kymco Venox tried to tell me today that his bike will do 160 mph, yes, MILES per hour, that it had 8 cylinders, runs on the front 4 then the back 4 cut in at higher speed. I found two plug wires and said," It may have 8 valves but with only two plug wires it has but two cylinders." He handed me the keys and said to try it if I did not believe him. My counter was there was no way I was gonna try to do such a thing on public roads. I asked him how he knew he was doing since his speedo went to only 100 mph/160 kph? He said he had a friend on a Harley beside him "clocking" him. This was done with a straight face. I will be dipped in the septic if any 250cc with 28 hp (Kymco specs) will even do 100 mph pushing a windscreen and bags. MAYBE a real race prepped serious real racer like HONDA used to do in Gran Prix racing but not this thing.

The 140MPH speedometer decal for my LIKE200i is back ordered from Kymco Taiwan - but when I lick that thing and stick it on my Scoot I'm gonna go blow the local Ducati club into the spinach!

Yeah, Stig! You got it! And those awful Ducati brake and clutch reservoirs of white plastic. That 140 MPH sticker will get 'em all! I am actually embarrassed by this guy's story. How pitiful a life to invent such outrageous stories for self-whatever.

Actually, those white plastic reservoirs impressed the heck out of me --- kinda In-Your-Face engineering....or, "Oh Crap! We are SO  "I t a l i a n" ---Luigi's team forgot there has to be reservoirs up here!"
I'd love to have one of those red Ducatis - but I'd be afraid to ride it! They are the first things on display at my dealer's front entrance. I feel like I'm looking at a 2 wheeled Ferrari.
I mean, you hardly notice them here....

See how hard they are to check if you don't use clear plastic.

Finally, the Italians figured it out and tucked them out of sight.

After thinking about this subject and this forum, my pet peeve would be OP's that post a problem, receive a ton of ideas and lots of information and then never, repost to say what the cure was.

Members, especially new members that ask a question, others are nice enough to clue them in as best they can and the OP/new member never gets back to them/us with how it was worked out.

A missed opportunity for all IMO and pretty rude of the OP.
