your gonna love it. i have the same one. 2012 Xciting 500RI ABS. only mine is the pewter/grey color. i have over 13,000 miles on mine. absolutely love it. wife loves it to. i added the backrest for her. we do alot of riding and i commute to and from work on it. 30 miles each way and mostly freeway. great bike. as for oil, i bought mine brand new with extended warranty so to keep record and warranty valid i choose to take mine to a nearby "approved" shop. but the oil is simple. the oil filter they use is a k&n (kn-147) i believe. i have the factory air filter but have heard some good things about the DNA filters. also someone on here made a high flo UNI foam filter using an oem filter and cutting and replacing the paper element with the uni foam :)

OK.....best place for OEM parts, oil filters(with numbers) oil and type etc etc etc.

Quite large. Basically nobody stocks many parts. This means you have a 2 week out of commission.
I highly recommend making a $100 purchase of parts most commonly used. (I.e. oil, Air, Brake Pads, etc.). Or at least prior to reaching an average mileage of expected failure. Belts, etc. Search these web sites and you'll get part numbers, costs, etc. The best way into the engine is to remove the inner tub under the seat. The front cowl periodically needs removed. CAUTION...The panels have a lot of self tapping screws that can strip out after repeated disassembly and reassembly. You can gat a lot of replacement hardware at a good hardware store. If you haven't had a bike before, Also recommend an AAA road assistance program with 100 towing.
