I think I blew out the headlight on my 08 Xciting 500. At least the bright light part of it.
Any idea of the size and where I can pick one up semi=cheaply?

bummer, i recently changed mine out on my 2012 xc500ri. it was an H4 bulb which is the same as a 9003. be sure to match the wattage, think it is 55/60. somewhere around there. i have a thread on it and has some questions answered that may help also

be gentle with the cowl screws, its not a difficult task to change it, doesnt take long but dont want to rush and hurt the threads in the plastic. you can grab a buld at pepboys or another auto partstore in your area :)

There is a vehicle bulb replacement guide on osram.com, and yeah, it's a H4 unit 55/60W.
These are available from about $2/each in every single shop here up to about $20 for premium
units. Bare in mind that the 50-90% higher output bulbs usually have a shorter lifespan and
some manufacturers (like Philips) have specific motorcycle bulbs designed for better visibility
of the vehicle (has an orange glow but casts pure white light) and longer life of the bulb in
motorcycles (a lot more vibrations then in a car).
Don't buy anything with a bigger power rating as you might melt the reflector or plastic cover.

H4 bulb = $13 at my LMS (Local Motorcycle Shop) and they installed it while I looked at scooter swag.

Here, that's the last place you want to buy a bulb.
They usually sell lower end stuff marked up considerably.
Local shop has Osram bulbs but the low end stuff which retails for $4-5, and they also charge $10-13.
