My Super 8's fuel gauge needle was at the red (empty) mark when I rode into a gas station. After filling her up, I started the engine... the fuel gauge needle rose to full and went down way below the empty mark....just like that. Might be a faulty sender switch... Any more ideas guys?

same thing happened to me with a car,. the float was stuck at the bottom, hope this helps,.easy to fix , but I installed a new one as it repeated sticking,.

vivo try to open the location of gauage there's pleny of cables that might removed from the jack
they are sensitive to road vibration..

The 50cc fuel tank appears to be the same for the 150 (schematic-wise), so you may want to follow the instructions here for troubleshooting (section 17-1):

I'm assuming it sometimes has/will go back? If so, from the symptoms, sounds like perhaps an intermittent short to ground on Blue/White wire, or an intermittent connection on the Yellow/White wire (or connector to the fuel sender)?
Amongst more unlikely things, I suppose these could go wrong:
1) sender itself could go bad,
2) float springs a leak (so it just doesn't "float" anymore),
3) instrument gauge itself gone bad/bad connection.

Thanks MSL1... Like I mentioned, the needle was just on top of the red bar... after filling her up, the needle was still on empty for around 10 seconds.. then it went up to full, then immediately to empty.. way below the red bar... it's been 5 days riding and sometimes the needle would go up a bit, just above the red bar, then down again...

Well, I pulled out the float yesterday and did some minor checking and cleaning. One observation tho, when I short the two main soldered connections, the gauge needle goes to full and that means the gauge and all connections are ok... the sender is the culprit... I'll first inquire on how much is it from the dealer before I try to make some repairs... it seemed repairable...

Called a local Kymco dealer today and inquired about the float assembly... 360 pesos or around $8.00... Might get one next week...

good job vivo , i have some work to do during this weekend valve clearance , changing brake fluid dot 4 , new brembo brakes for front brakes , maybe new rear brakes , and as usual an expensive oil 10w40 for 4t ;)
kymco rocks even with all this money i have to spend :p

My fuel gauge went bad too. I never got around to fixing it. Have you fixed yours yet?
