OK, I'm going to ask this question again.
Tonight I'm shopping scoots on line....and I keep seeing all kinds of scoots with no or minimal miles from 2009.
What gives?
I'm seeing a dozen 200cc and 500cc Scarabeos not far away with next to no miles from 2009, and I've seen a lot of others over the past few months.
Does anyone know why this is?
What happened in 2009?!
Thanks, Stig, snowed in.

I don't know if it was a scooter thing, but I'll bet it was an economic thing. The markets, real estate prices, etc., were at a high in 2008 and then came crashing down in 2009. More than likely, a lot of people bought more than they could handle and had to start selling off their "toys" to make ends meet. 2009 models would have come out in the fall of '08 when financial states were at a peak, then crashed in early '09. Just my guess, for what it's worth.

Same deal.
Scooter sales took a dive in 2009 and the stateside warehouses had stacks of crates at the time. Add in failing dealers and you we're left with the glut of scooters.

what was the price on that 2008, 500 Scabby?.
Those are real desirable scoots. Good power to weight ratio.
People that own them, love them.
Every scoot has pluses and minuses.
Piaggio dealer support not great. Local scoot shops and ordering parts over the internet can be a work around.
Some Piaggio scoots had problems with fuel pump hose in the gas tank.
If I was in the market for a scoot, I would consider the 500 if I could get it at a good price.

If $3600. is his asking price, he will probably come down some.
If it was in my neighborhood I would ask for a test ride.
Am curious as to why a 98 model only has 258 miles on it.
Reasonable explanation?.
If the owner will let you take it for a test ride, bet it will blow your socks off.
People selling are reluctant to give test rides but, if you offer to let him ride your beautiful Like, he might go along with it.

That is a sweet looking ride! Very nice price, I'm betting 3K and it's yours.

Good question. I just picked up a 2009 Kymco Sento with only 1200 miles. The seller said it wouldn't start with the starter. I took it home and put in a fresh battery and it started. Maybe all 2009 scooters have dead batteries?

Wasn't 08/09 the year thst gas prices shot thru the roof. I know I traded my dodge pickup in on a civic because of gas prices. Then gas prices started falling a month before the Presidential election.

Funny. Just yesterday I bought a 2009 Grand Vista, white, with 904 Miles! I'll agree, 2009's are all over the internet with low miles.

My scoot is an 09', picked it up used with 770 miles in 011', the guy was upgrading to a larger maxiscoot of the 400cc group, I happened upon it via my interoffice swap board. Grabbed her for $1,600 and was thrilled.
