Title: 2009 super 8 150 engine swap
Post by: tadwest on January 02, 2014, 04:06:21 AM: I was wondering if anyone out there knows if a 2013 super 8 150 engine will fit in a 2009 super 8 150, I was going to buy it if it will work. If it won't work does anyone out there know where I can pick up an engine that will work in it. Thank you

Most 2013 models are fuel injected, some with 4 valves. Don't forget to check all these little details.

I am unable to find any mention of it on Kymco USA and Kymco Global. I know the sporty Movie 150 comes with a newer generation EFI and 4 valve design overseas.

The super 8 150 engine from any year, as long as its the 150, will fit in any super 8 150 frame. No change to electronics, you can even run the carb from a 08 on a 13.

I'm no expert, but his is how it's described where I live:
KYMCO Super 8 150/Engine: 4-stroke air-cooled SOHC/Transmission: Automatic CVT/Energy: Fuel injection/Displacement: 149 cc

I didn't state it as a fact, just another detail to be checked. It was just a suggestion, nothing more.

I don't think the Super 8 was made in any larger sizes, and I don't think Kymco makes any other bike that shares the same drivetrain or wheelbase or wheel size. Their other sports scooters have wheel sizes of 12". You may have to look at bigger bore or stroke through aftermarket.
