Title: p250 and ps250 what's the difference
Post by: ispud on August 19, 2009, 10:33:08 PM
What was last year p250 was sold?  I am assuming they went straight from p250 to ps250 with no overlap??  What are the major differences between the 2.

I think one is the ps250 has dual front disc brakes vs the single on the p250?

How many ps250's are there running around in the world?  I know on my Aprilia Scarabeo 200 - there are like 4 to 500 in the US.

One more - what is the difference between US and the rest of the world when it comes to turn signals (I hate this blue background) - seems many scooters including the ps250 have different turn signals in the US.  Are the turn signals located down in those clear lense areas on both sides of the front in Europe?  Do the serve any purpose??  Are they decoration?

IIRC, the P250 and PS250 were both sold alongside one another for a year or two, at least in the U.S. The last model year for the P250 was 2007 (which is what mine is).

You made note of the major differences. The PS250 also has two headlight bulbs (P250, just one), and the PS250 has just a bit more horsepower, according to the specs I've seen.

Turn signals: USDOT requires, I believe, either 17" or 19" minimum distance, centerline, between them. If the body style does not accomodate that distance, the manufacturer adds "pods" beneath the headset, typically.

Most  noteable  difference  other    than  superfical  cosemetic's are  the  following:

P250 wheelbase =59.6 "
S250 wheelbase-56.2 "

P250 = single  front  disc  brake
S250 +  dual  disc brakes

P250 = dual  interconnected gas tanks
S250 =single..

The wheelbase  differences  have  + and -  for  both  models

P250 longer  wheelbase= less  twitchy  at  higher speeds, more  foot/leg/knee room  and more  under  seat  storage
S250 shorter whellbase= Crisper  handling at  low  speed  and a stiffer  frame  resulting  a  more aggressive handling attitude

P250 single front  disc brakes=  more than  ample
S250 Dual  front  disc  brakes = sport  bike  like  8)

P250 dual  gas  tanks=allows  more  foot  room  via  FLAT floor..Size 14 feet  ;D: Funky gas  gauge
S250 single gas tank ,better  gas  gauge  and will  accomodate  a  fuel injection  system  on  future models

2007 P250 = 39000km ...its  just  keeps on  going  ,going  ...............
