I was wondering how I go about insuring my 50cc moped. Being 50cc its unregistered and uninsured, because it doesn't have to be by law. I have decided because of some issues with theft near where i live its best to insure it. Does this moped need to be registered for me to insure it and what is a ballpark range for the price of full coverage? I am having difficulties figuring out how to go about this since i cant find it online anywhere and I have never had to insure anything before.

Do you live in the European Union or in Afghanistan, Brazil, Cameroon, ...?

I am very sorry I though I had listed location. Kentucky, North America.

The best way to find the correct answer would be to call a insurance company an ask.
They would be able to tell you as well as give you a quote no charge. If you are concerned with theft then comp an collision would be what you are looking for.
Good Luck..

Full coverage $100 - $125 / Year. $20 / Yr. For just liability.

It'll depend on where you're located, your age, record, etc..
But Urbestfriend gave a great set of numbers as a guideline..
I just insured my 2005 People 50 and the Liability (pretty high limits) was only $23 a year through Progressive.

I had $200 - $300 a year for full insurance with nationwide. FYI my 2011 Kymco like50 was stolen in July this year and they paid out $1900.

My Gti300 costs me $162.00 a year. I keep a Super 8 150cc down @ my parents home & that costs me $101.00 a year. A 50cc shouldn't be that much, but then again as other posters mentioned, it depends on your location.
